There are three big life questions that all people seek to answer in some way or another.
Whether you agree with the tithe or not, a percentage level of giving is essential for holiness, vital for the ongoing work of the church, and it’s required for receiving God’s blessing.
When you serve, it's not about you or how you can benefit. You are doing something primarily for the benefit and goodwill of another person or group of people. Serving others means making space for them and seeing them as valuable and worthy to be served, simply because God views them that way.
The whole point of church is to get into a community of people who I can love and enter into what might be called a shared life. Because growth happens within the context of relationships.
The reality of Christmas is that Jesus was a real person, flesh and blood, bones and hair. He was a real person, not a myth, or a fable, or a nice story.
We are called to acceptable worship, to a spiritual service which is acceptable to God. And in order to do that, we have to have a kind of worship that is not conformed to this world. We are to worship God in a way that is reflective of minds that have been transformed, by being renewed by the Spirit of God through the Word of God to be consumed with the will of God and not the things that appeal to the world.
There simply has been no transcendent vision of reality, no cosmic story to make sense of this earth other than Jesus.
