As a Christian, God isn't just rooting you on, but He is dwelling in you through the Holy Spirit. By the working of the Holy Spirit, we are not called to live in legalism or licentiousness but rather in love.

We were slaves to sin and thus subject to its command and punishment. However, Paul says that in baptism, we were buried with Jesus and are therefore freed from our slavery.
