When you hear the words spoken to Jesus, “You are my Son, the beloved, with you I am well pleased,” how true do those words feel for YOU on a scale of 1 to 7 (where 1 is false and 7 being completely true)? Let’s explore this together!

A few weeks ago our friend Tim Holler admonished us to keep our promises to our children so that they can see Christ in us. This weekend we are talking about the promise of the Father: God keeps His promises and so should we.

The first three chapters of 1 Thessalonians crescendo with a prayer in which the Apostle Paul expresses his deepest longings for them: He prays that their love would increase and abound toward each other and also toward their oppressors. And he prays that God would strengthen their hearts, giving them a Spirit-empowered impulse to live blameless lives for the glory of Jesus -- to present to him the gift of their worshiping lives when he finally returns. May we live this way, as well!

No matter where I look in the Bible I am struck with the pervasive presence of the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit’s proactive involvement in the ordinary lives of his people. This is life in the Kingdom where we learn to live under the watchful eye and within the warm embrace of the Father, Son, and Spirit. Looking forward to exploring the Kingdom with you in 1 Thessalonians.
