Renewed Mindsets: Don't Conform-TRANSFORM

Send us Fan Mail

Can decorating Christmas trees and celebrating Santa Claus impact your spiritual journey? Rick and Lauren invite you to rethink cherished holiday traditions through a biblical lens. By referencing scriptures like Jeremiah 10, we challenge the adoption of customs that might not align with God's call to holiness. We dive into the portrayal of Santa Claus, questioning how this figure, often imbued with divine attributes, can create confusion for children trying to understand the true meaning of Christmas. This episode doesn't shy away from asking tough questions, urging you to closely examine the spiritual implications of these traditions and how they may affect your relationship with Christ.

Living a holy life is not about rule-following—it's about transformation. Together, we explore what it means to truly reflect our new identity in Christ, drawing on key scriptures such as 1 Peter 1:13-16 and 2 Corinthians 5:17. We offer practical steps to embrace holiness by communicating with God, immersing ourselves in His word, and embodying His love.  With these insights, we hope to inspire you to thrive amidst uncertainties, finding strength in the faith journey.

I was deeply moved by the story of a leper who, out of ten healed, was the only one to return and express gratitude to Jesus. This act of thankfulness is a powerful reminder that gratitude should be a constant presence in our lives, not just a fleeting seasonal sentiment. On this episode of Renewed Mindsets, Lauren and I explore the profound impact of living a life rooted in gratitude from a biblical perspective. Through personal experiences and stories from scripture, we reflect on how recognizing God’s provision during challenging times can transform our outlook and deepen our faith. We also delve into the importance of community, illustrating how the support and love of fellow believers can embody God's love during life's trials.

As the Thanksgiving holiday draws near, we share our personal excitement and planning for the festivities, while also addressing how gratitude extends beyond immediate circumstances. Through a humorous parrot story and insights from the prophet Habakkuk, we discuss how gratitude should be anchored in the unchanging nature of God, not our ever-shifting situations. By focusing on God's attributes—His love, patience, and wisdom—we find inspiration to cultivate a heart of gratitude regardless of life's ups and downs. Join us as we celebrate this season of thankfulness, encouraging you to embrace gratitude as a lifestyle, fostering a deeper connection with God and those around you.

Are you prepared to question the innocence of Halloween celebrations? Join us as Lauren King and I confront the unsettling connections between Halloween's origins in the Celtic festival of Samhain and its ties to paganism and the occult. We highlight the importance of recognizing how these seemingly benign traditions can carry spiritual implications that conflict with Christian values. Our exploration underscores the dangers of engaging with the dark themes commonly celebrated on this holiday, urging believers to maintain a life committed to holiness and light.

Venturing beyond Halloween, we delve into the pervasive influences of demonic forces in modern culture. Through the teachings of the Bible and figures like martial artist Ip Man, we examine how negative emotions and temptations, such as greed and selfishness, can be manipulations by these unseen forces. Our conversation stresses the significance of vigilance and resisting deceitful influences by donning the "full armor of God." By staying grounded in faith and wisdom, we can navigate the complexities of contemporary life and safeguard ourselves against spiritual threats.

Losing a job can be one of life's most jarring experiences, but it can also be a catalyst for profound personal growth. Join me on my journey through faith and resilience, where I recount the struggle of finding purpose beyond my professional identity. With scriptures as my guide and the unwavering support of my church community, I discovered new beginnings in unexpected places, including a fulfilling new job and an engagement to Kimmy Shirley, our associate producer and spiritual advisor. This episode is a testament to the idea that God's faithfulness is unwavering, and that even the darkest trials can lead to brighter opportunities.

How often do we view waiting as an exercise in futility? By examining stories from scriptures like Psalms and James, we challenge the modern narrative that impatience is a virtue and instead highlight patience as a powerful virtue. Through reflections on figures such as Noah, Abraham, and Moses, we explore how patience is not just a passive state but a fertile ground for spiritual growth. Discover why virtues like patience, kindness, and gentleness are not signs of weakness but of true strength. Let us guide you in seeing how delays can align with God's broader plans, leading to outcomes greater than we could ever imagine.
