Christ's cry "It is finished" (John 19:30) is not a defeated man's final gasp but the triumphant declaration of a completed work — the new creation's sixth day reaching its appointed end. His burial in the garden tomb on the Passover Sabbath is not the silence of despair but the Sabbath rest of the last Adam, who accomplished what the first Adam forfeited, securing for his people the very rest of God himself.

Anticipating Eternity: The Death of Death in the Resurrection & Reign of Christ (1Corinthians 15:12-28, 50-58).  Because our risen Saviour now reigns at God’s right hand, we can face life in this world with confidence, knowing that death itself will die when He returns to take us home!
