What do you fear most? In Joshua 2, Rahab finds herself caught between the power of the king of Jericho and the greater power of the God of Israel. While the rest of Jericho is terrified of what God might do, Rahab responds differently: she recognizes who God is, trusts what He has said, and surrenders herself to Him.

What might God do through a people who take Him at His word?

In Joshua 1:10–18, Joshua responds to God’s command with decisive action, and the people of Israel respond with remarkable willingness: “All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.”

But what produces that kind of obedience?

This generation had witnessed the faithfulness of God. They knew His commitment to His people, His commitment to His word, and the power He displayed when His people trusted Him. Their obedience wasn’t simply driven by obligation—it was fueled by excitement about what God might do.

And the gospel gives us an even greater reason for that confidence. In Jesus, we see the ultimate demonstration that God keeps His word and remains faithful to His people. We don't obey in order to earn His faithfulness; we obey because we have already seen it.

What might God do through a church captivated by who He is, confident in what He has said, and ready to say “yes” when He calls?

What does our love for Jesus reveal about how deeply we understand His forgiveness?

In Luke 7:36–50, Jesus is invited to dinner at the home of a Pharisee named Simon when a woman with a scandalous reputation interrupts the gathering with an extravagant display of love and devotion. Simon sees a sinner who doesn't belong. Jesus sees a woman who understands just how desperately she needs grace.

Through the question, “Which of them will love him more?”, Jesus exposes the difference between Simon and the woman—and challenges us to examine our own hearts.
You don't need a scandalous past to have a staggering testimony. We all have a debt we could never pay, and the more clearly we understand how much we've been forgiven, the more deeply we'll love the One who forgave us.

In Luke 17:11–19, ten men cry out to Jesus for mercy. Ten obey His command. Ten are healed. But only one turns back.

Jesus’ question—“Where are the other nine?”—reveals something important about the difference between simply receiving from Jesus and becoming the kind of person who recognizes, worships, and gives thanks to Him. The Samaritan sees what Jesus has done, turns back, praises God, falls at Jesus’ feet, and gives thanks.

What is your life really worth—and what are you spending it on?  In Mark 8:34–38, Jesus challenges his disciples and the crowds with one of his most searching questions: “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”

Jesus frames discipleship in the language of profit, loss, value, and exchange. Following Him may come with a real cost—comfort, approval, status, security, and even our own plans. But Jesus insists that nothing we could gain in exchange is worth the loss of our psuchē—our life, our whole self.  

 The surprising good news behind Jesus' warning is this: you are extraordinarily valuable to God. You are too valuable to spend your life chasing things that can never ultimately preserve you. Jesus is the only one worthy of your whole life—and the only one who gave His whole self to redeem yours.  In this message from our Questions Jesus Asked series, we explore what it means to take up our cross, follow Jesus, and refuse to squander the life God has given us.  Don’t waste your life. Spend it on the One who gave His life to redeem yours.

Jesus asks a question that reveals that motivations of the heart. In asking "What do you want" Jesus brings us to a place of acknowledging that we might be expecting something from him that he was never intending to provide. We all have various reasons for coming to Jesus, but Jesus' invitation to us is not that we would get from him what we want, but that we would first submit ourselves to God and then be able to receive the desires of our submitted hearts.   

Jesus is in the business of bringing us under God's authority and changing us, not giving us what we want apart from the change.

Jesus washed his disciples feet and then asked them a question. The question is about what followers of Jesus are invited into as well as what followers of Jesus are called to realize when we allow our leader to serve us and make us clean.
