We're back folks, and talking about week 1 of the NFL season. We start with the Monday night game and the roller coaster of emotions Brandon and Ellis's bets took them through. We then turn to Stafford's opening game as a Ram, and discuss the Bears benching Fields to start the season. Next we turn to the Patriots vs Dolphins opener and why Brandon has cautious optimism for the Pats this season. Then we head to the Seahawks vs Colts game with a surprisingly civil discussion between Ellis and Stout. After that we discuss some of our week 2 bets in This Weeks Rent, and preview a couple matchups. Finally we unload some of our spicy takes after week 1, which turns personal quickly for Brandon and Ellis. It's my favorite sports time of the year, NBA playoff. The guys recap all the series as of Tuesday afternoon, starting with Stout's Blazers and their soft-served centers. After that we talk about the next great NBA villain Trae Young and how the Knicks will come back better in game 2 (00:17:00). Next we talk about the Lakers vs Suns, and NBA twitters overreaction to a game 1 loss for the Lakers (00:30:15). We then turn to Luka vs his sons, and how he has absolutely emasculated Pat Bev (00:41:15). We quickly talk about the Nets and 76ers respective series, and look forward to their 2nd round matchups (00:48:00). Next up is Memphis vs Utah, and the weird circumstances surrounding Mitchell missing game 1 (00:54:10). We close our NBA talk with the Bucks vs Heat, and why this Bucks team is different than the last two years (00:59:15). Finally we close the podcast discussing the poll about which animals we think we could take in a fight (01:09:10).
In this episode we cover the latest news in the NBA, MLB, and fight sports. We kick things off by patting Brandon on the back for picking Jokic for MVP, then talk about the wide open west, and the kings of New York. After that we head over to baseball where the Yankees are climbing back above .500, and discuss Ohtani who is breaking almost 100 year old records (11:50). Next we head over to boxing and UFC to discuss Canelo's dominance, Fury v Wilder, Jake Paul getting Logan's hat, Cerrone's latest loss, and preview this weekends card headlined by Oliviera vs Chandler.
After getting slammed by school and work the Rent Free boys are back and better than ever. We start things off with some far too late draft recap, and discuss how Mac Jones looks in a suit. Next Stout and Ellis get into a heated discussion about their rosters after learning that the the Seahawks and Colts are facing off week 1 (15:30). After that we discuss Tebow signing with the Jags and how that will affect the locker rooms trust in Urban (29:00).
In case you ever wondered who came up with the titles and descriptions hopefully this week's title gives a little hint. We take a break this week from our NE10 previews to recap NFL free agency at the start of the show. We then turn to teams making roster changes in the NBA at the trade deadline, including the recent buyout signings (00:32:55). Next up we go over last weekends UFC card and talk about the futures of Woodley and Ngannou (00:56:05). We close the pod with our thoughts on Ben Askren dominating his press conference with Jake Paul (1:10:25).
The NE10 preview rolls on with Drew Carpino, middie at Adelphi. We talk about his time playing at Saint Rose to start, and the preparation of now being on Adelphi trying to challenge #1 ranked LeMoyne. We also dive into the difficulties posed by Covid for away games, and whether he would stand a chance vs Brandon 1 v 1. (Spoiler alert: he wouldn't).
We start our NE10 lacrosse preview with our former teammate and current defender at LeMoyne Mike Brandow. We talk about his time at OCC, the adjustment of joining a new team as a junior, and his struggle of being the only player on the team with flow.
Ellis and Brandon interview Hunter Pemrick this week. We talked about playing hockey and lacrosse when he was younger, as well as what made him choose lacrosse. Then we talk about how covid has changed his routine. We also go over techniques for hockey fights. Another awesome interview, hope you guys enjoy!
We took last week off due to Ellis getting his wisdom teeth out, but we're back baby! We start things off with the Wentz trade and some general draft/free agency talk. After that we go to the NBA and talk about Anthony Edwards dunk on Watanabe and discuss the all star starters (00:16:55). We then turn our attention to the surging Nets and how the run they've been on through the Pacific division (00:28:35). Next we turn to the Celtics who are struggling to stay at .500, and come up with some possible fixes for them at center (00:33:45). We head west to talk about Draymond's double tech and the Mavericks supposedly making Kristaps available for trade to the Warriors (00:41:55). Next we discuss the Orioles projected 0% playoff chances and the twitter beef between Bauer and Syndegard (00:44:45). We finish things off with Stouts special question and discuss possible all star reserves (00:52:35).
This was a very heated episode following the Super Bowl. We start with recap of the big game and talk about Gronk and AB's legacies. Next Ellis and Brandon try to give Stout a stroke by speculating wildly about possible trades for Russ following his interview with Dan Patrick (00:25:00). We gave Stout some quick payback with our Top 5 possible Qb's for the Colts immediately after (00:38:40). After everyone gets the yelling out of our systems we go to NBA news such as The Derrick Rose trade and Elfrid Payton's burner account (00:47:00). We finish the episode off with Stout's special question and some hate towards Nate Diaz for claiming he "runs" lightweight division (00:58:15).
