In 2009, Australian siblings Amy and George Sheppard started writing music together while Amy studied music in Brisbane. Over the course of the next four years, they would slowly add members to the band including their sister Emma. It was only fitting that the band itself should take the family name and be called Sheppard as well.

For 13 years, Tim Hardin battled a number of health problems, including heroin addiction and psychological trauma.  He struggled to maintain his musical career after the initial humble success of his first two albums during the mid 60s.  His live performances were often erratic due to the combination of drug use and stage fright.  In December of 1980, he passed away at the age of 39 of an overdose.
