Repelling Others With A Victim Mentality

Listen Later

There are “toxic” habits that tend to be repellent to others in relationships:

  • Negativity
  • Victim Mentality
  • Over-Sensitivity
  • Over-reactivity
  • Neediness/Clinginess
  • (Inspired by Kathy Caprino’s “Toxic Behaviors That Push People Away” post.)

If you are in a VICTIM MENTALITY habit, you may be:

    • blaming a “persecutor” or “villain” for how you feel
  • searching for a “rescuer” to solve your problem or “save” you
  • refusing to take responsibility for the results you’ve created
  • I invite you to consider these questions about having a VICTIM MENTALITY habit:

    • What do you tend to think or believe when you’re stuck in this habit?
  • What do you tend to feel?
  • What actions are you taking or not taking?
  • How does having a  VICTIM MENTALITY habit temporarily benefit you?
  • What is a VICTIM MENTALITY habit costing you?
  • When do you notice connecting with someone who has a VICTIM MENTALITY habit?
