Have you ever found yourself stuck in the creative process? Whether you’re an author, a speaker, or just someone looking to express yourself, the journey can often feel overwhelming. Today, let’s explore a unique approach that can help you break free from your creative block: writing your “worst book ever.” This concept may sound silly at first, but it holds profound potential for unleashing creativity and building confidence.
As we navigate through our creative endeavors, it’s essential to reflect on what has worked for us in the past. What ideas have you had that sparked joy and success? More importantly, what have you stopped doing that once brought you fulfillment? My name is Bradley Charbonneau, and I’m here to share my own creative journey and how I’ve learned to embrace new ideas while letting go of perfectionism.
It’s early 2025, and I find myself constantly bombarded with new ideas. This can be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, the excitement of new concepts is invigorating; on the other, it often leads me to abandon previous projects. The key is to find a balance between nurturing new ideas and revisiting the ones that have worked well in the past.
One of the most impactful programs I’ve developed is called “How to Write Your Worst Book Ever.” This concept emerged from my experience with writers who often struggle with perfectionism. The fear of not producing a “great” piece can paralyze creativity and lead to procrastination. So, I flipped the script and encouraged writers to focus on what they shouldn’t do instead.
The premise is simple: by embracing the idea of writing something intentionally “bad,” you can liberate yourself from the constraints of perfectionism. This exercise allows you to laugh at yourself and take risks without the fear of judgment. It’s not about publishing this “worst book” but rather about completing a project and experiencing the joy of creation.
This program is perfect for anyone who feels stuck in their writing journey, whether it’s your first book or your fortieth. The goal is to help you finish something, celebrate that achievement, and build the confidence to tackle future projects. By completing a “worst book,” you will feel a sense of accomplishment that can propel you to greater heights in your creative endeavors.
At writers’ conferences, one of the first questions you might encounter is, “What are you working on?” If you’re hesitant about your current project, it can be tough to answer. But what if you could say, “I’m working on the history of socks in the dryer”? This playful response not only lightens the mood but also opens the door for engaging conversations.
Many writers tend to be introverted, and breaking the ice can be challenging. By discussing your “worst book ever,” you create a unique and humorous talking point that can lead to deeper connections with fellow writers and attendees.
Getting started on this journey is easier than you might think. Here are a few steps to help you dive into writing your “worst book ever”:
Throughout this process, keep in mind two key words: breakthrough and confidence. Your “worst book ever” is not just an exercise in creativity; it’s a stepping stone to overcoming barriers that have held you back. As you complete this project, you’ll find yourself more willing to tackle larger and more serious works.
Moreover, the act of finishing something—no matter how trivial—can instill a sense of achievement that fuels your desire to create more. You’ll find that once you have completed this “worst book,” the fear of starting new projects diminishes significantly.
In the end, the journey of creativity is all about exploration and self-discovery. Writing your “worst book ever” is a playful yet profound way to break free from the shackles of perfectionism. So, embrace the chaos, laugh at your mistakes, and let your creativity flow. Remember, every great book started as a rough draft, and your “worst book” could be the catalyst for your next masterpiece.
The purpose is to free yourself from the fear of perfectionism and encourage creativity by allowing yourself to create something intentionally “bad.”
Anyone who feels stuck in their creative process, whether you are a first-time writer or an experienced author, can benefit from writing their “worst book ever.”
Begin by setting low expectations for yourself, choosing a fun or silly topic, and dedicating time to write without the pressure of producing a polished piece.
That’s fantastic! The goal is to unlock your creativity. Sometimes the unexpected can lead to the best ideas!
Let me know what you think about this approach and if you’re ready to take the plunge into your “worst book ever.” Happy writing!
How to Write Your “Worst Book Ever” — and Why You Should
Here We Go !
It’s February 17th, 2025. You’ve had six weeks to make some decisions about your year. So, how are things going? If you’re like most people, you might feel a bit behind. But guess what? It’s never too late to make a change!
Hey, I’m Bradley Charbonneau, and today, I want to talk about the power of decision-making. Specifically, I want to dive into how making decisions can help create habits that reduce stress and anxiety, ultimately leading to a happier life with more free time.
Decisions are the foundation of our habits. I’m not really a New Year’s resolutions guy; I’m more of a calendar guy. That might sound boring, but it works for me! The key is to decide what you can do daily, weekly, or monthly that can challenge you while also being enjoyable.
For instance, I write a newsletter every 17th of the month. This is an example of a decision I made a long time ago. I chose this date because it holds personal significance for me—it’s my special number. You might not have a number like that, but find something that resonates with you and make it your own!
Let’s think about what you can decide right now that you won’t have to think about again for the rest of the year. This could free up mental energy and reduce anxiety. For instance, I decided to create a YouTube short every day last year. It’s a small commitment, but it adds up over time.
Think about it: what’s something tiny that you can incorporate into your daily routine? Maybe it’s as simple as drinking more water or taking a short walk. The goal is to make it a habit, something you do without overthinking it.
Building habits is like brushing your teeth. You didn’t really decide as a child to brush your teeth; your parents made that decision for you. Now, it’s just part of your routine. What can we build into our lives that becomes just as automatic?
If you’re groaning at the idea of more commitments, I get it. But let’s add some excitement! Choose something that challenges you but is also fun. If your goal is to go to the gym every week, maybe instead, choose an activity you genuinely enjoy, like dancing or hiking.
Finding balance is crucial. You want something that brings you joy, but also something that’s a bit challenging. Think about it: if you choose something too easy, like eating a donut every week, the joy wears off quickly. Instead, let’s make a decision that’s meaningful and will enrich your life.
For instance, I have my “Thursday Thunder” series where I post a video every Thursday. I made this commitment on January 1, 2020, and it has been rewarding. Some of these habits will stick with you beyond the year, while others might serve their purpose and then fade away.
Now, think about how many of these commitments you want by the end of the year. Would you prefer 365 small wins, 52 weekly victories, or 12 monthly milestones? What are you excited to create? Remember, the positive emotion of completing a goal should outweigh any temporary discomfort you feel while working on it.
Have you considered writing a chapter of a book each month? By the end of the year, you’d have twelve chapters! Easy peasy, right? Or perhaps you want to start a blog or a podcast. Whatever it is, the important thing is to decide now and stick with it.
As we wrap up, I encourage you to think about the decisions you can make today that will pave the way for a happier, more fulfilling life. Remember, it’s about progress, not perfection. Celebrate your victories, no matter how small, and keep moving forward!
Let me know what you decide to commit to this year! You can share your thoughts in the comments or reach out to me. I’d love to hear about your journey.
It’s normal to struggle at first. Start small and gradually build up. Consistency is key, and over time, it will become easier.
Choose habits that resonate with you personally. They should challenge you but also bring you joy. Think about what excites you!
Absolutely! Life changes, and so can your goals. Feel free to reassess and modify your commitments as needed.
Should you make regular-life decisions while on holiday?

In this episode of Repossible, we delve into the intricate dance between intuition, logic, and the evolving role of AI in decision-making. Join us as we explore a compelling conversation between mathematician Bradley Charbonneau and AI expert Fiona Passantino, who share their contrasting yet enlightening approaches to making choices. Discover how our gut feelings often clash with logical reasoning, and learn about the brain’s mechanisms that drive these instincts.
Fiona’s vivid analogy of a rustle in the bushes illustrates the primal instinct to react before our rational mind can process the situation. As we navigate the complexities of modern life, information overload can drown out that inner voice, yet Bradley encourages us to retrain our intuition through practices like meditation. Together, they reveal how tuning into our subconscious can lead to more fulfilling decisions, even those as significant as relocating to a new country
As the discussion unfolds, we examine how AI can complement our decision-making process, particularly in data-driven scenarios. While AI excels at analyzing trends and providing clarity, it lacks the emotional intelligence that defines our human experiences. This episode challenges us to find a balance between leveraging technology and trusting our instincts, ultimately empowering us to make choices that resonate with our values.

Imagine standing amidst a wet, rainy forest, feeling the chill of the air while contemplating the intricacies of decision-making. That’s precisely what I was doing recently, pondering over how decisions shape our lives. It’s a topic that has occupied much of my thoughts as I work on my book, program, and the Now What?! challenge.
Decisions vary immensely, from choosing between a burger or a salad to contemplating a move to France. They span personal, professional, and even existential realms, influenced by factors like age, gender, and context. Understanding how people make these choices is vital, and I’m eager to gather stories that illuminate this process.
Stories of past decisions, their impacts, and the lessons learned can help us all make better choices in the future. If you have insights or anecdotes to share, I would love to hear them. Perhaps you’d even like to join me on my podcast for a discussion.
Recently, I attended an event that explored the intersection of confidence and AI in decision-making. Confidence undeniably affects how we make decisions. The more confident we are, the more decisive we become. The event highlighted how AI can serve as a tool in this process, providing data analysis that aids in making informed decisions.
AI can analyze and project data, helping us navigate the “now what?” moments in life. Imagine feeding AI all the necessary data about a decision, and then receiving guidance based on that analysis. It’s a fascinating prospect that aligns with my vision of integrating AI into our decision-making frameworks.
While AI offers analytical prowess, our innate decision-makers—the mind, heart, and gut—play crucial roles too. I envision creating AI agents that embody these aspects, each with distinct qualities and data, to assist in decision-making. It’s an ambitious idea, and I’m eager to explore its feasibility.
These AI agents would uniquely represent the analytical mind, the emotive heart, and the intuitive gut. By combining these elements, we could develop a comprehensive decision-making aid. This project could eventually extend to helping others create personalized AI agents for their decision-making needs.
Decisions, big or small, consume brain power. By reducing trivial daily choices, like what to wear, we can conserve mental energy for more significant decisions. This concept is exemplified by figures like Barack Obama, who reportedly wore the same suit to minimize decision fatigue.
To counteract routine monotony, I adopt small changes, like opening doors differently each time. These minor decisions subtly alter my day, fostering a dynamic approach to life. This practice aligns with strategies proposed by Joe Dispenza, urging us to break free from autopilot modes.
In 2020, I committed to recording a video every Thursday, a decision that eliminated the need to decide weekly whether to create content. Such commitments streamline decision-making, freeing up mental resources for other pursuits.
In conclusion, decision-making is a multifaceted process influenced by confidence, data, and our intrinsic faculties. By understanding and optimizing these elements, we can enhance our decision-making capabilities. Join me in this exploration, and perhaps you’ll find your own answers to the perennial question: “Now what?”
Until next time, stay curious and keep deciding.
