Huge advances in carbon nanotechnology have been made since the development of Vantablack™ by Surrey Nanosystems in 2006.  New and continued research at the NanoElectronics Centre at the Advanced Technology Institute (NEC@ATI), headed by Professor Silva CBE, has involved developing applications, manufacturing solutions and capabilities for carbon nanotechnologies, for areas ranging from space and flight technologies to energy conversion and recovery, and healthcare sensing and monitoring applications.
