Resilience is not just getting through something hard.
It’s your ability to bounce back.
I love thinking of it like elasticity—springing back into place. Not perfectly, not instantly, but with flexibility.
When we set goals, there’s this idea that once we’re committed, it should go smoothly. Like if we’re all in, it should feel good the whole time.
But you’re still human.
You will feel emotions on the way to your goals and after you reach them. That doesn’t mean anything has gone wrong.
Resilience is expecting that.
It’s knowing ahead of time that there will be moments where you feel discouraged, tired, or unsure—and that you’ll support yourself through it.
Think of it like a car. You expect to refuel. You don’t get surprised when the tank gets low.
Same thing here.
Resilience is planning to refuel emotionally. Resting. Recommitting. Giving yourself space to feel what you feel without making it a problem.
A small thing that prevents resilience is thinking emotions are the problem.
When you feel discouraged or disappointed and decide that shouldn’t be happening, it can stop you. It makes you think you need to change everything to feel better.
But the emotion isn’t the problem.
Resilience is feeling it, supporting yourself, and continuing forward.
Not perfectly. Just consistently.
You don’t have to force your way through. You can move with understanding and effort together.
That’s resilience.
And it’s part of every goal that matters to you
