What does a former Army Officer turned Performance Coach and elite Endurance Athlete have to share with us on resilience? A great deal, we find out! In this very practical analysis of what we can do to protect our resilience, we hear from Anna-Marie Watson, a Performance Coach and Coach Supervisor, who also loves to take her work outside.
Former British Army Officer, she has worked in challenging environments from snowy Arctic tundra to hot and sandy deserts. Alongside her passion for performance and coaching Anna-Marie has a severe ultra-running habit. She loves racing overseas and has achieved podium positions on various events on the Ultra Trail World Tour series, Marathon des Sables and other crazy long distance events.
She co-hosts the ‘Coaching Outdoors’ podcast, has contributed to ‘The Coaches Handbook’ and ‘Succeeding as a Coach’ on eco-coaching and regularly speaks about the benefit of being immersed in nature.

How do writers deal with constant rejection, feedback and negative reviews? I set out to see what we can learn about resilience from people in these creative industries.
Matt Hill is a fiction writer based and freelance copywriter in Glossop. He’s the author of four novels set in and around a near-future Britain: The Folded Man, Graft (which was a finalist for the 2017 Philip K Dick award), Zero Bomb, and most recently The Breach.

Ruth Coates is a psychotherapist and therapeutic writing guide. She has been working as a therapist for over 12 years but has 20 years experience in the mental health and social justice sectors.
In this episode we talk about resilience from the therapeutic viewpoint, and how Ruth helps her clients. We also look at collective resilience and whether being resilient means doing it all alone. And what can we do to build resilience when things are going well?

Jamie Pei is a life coach, and PhD trainer and coach, having received her own PhD in 2021 from the University of York. She calls herself 'The Messy Coach' because she's all about working through the messiness of doing doctoral research and of muddling through life, love, relationships, work, and everything in between.
In this episode we talk about whether an outward show of resilience is always resilience and ask can fake it until we make it? We're all invited to Jamie's six-month long pity party to find out how we pull ourselves out of the those moments of feeling hopelessness. We explore how vulnerability is linked to resilience and what sitting with the messiness is all about.
