In the final sermon of the "Worked Up" series, Jake teaches us how an extraordinary Christ causes our seemingly mundane work to be extraordinary, too.

Jake teaches us how sin has distorted the picture of work God had intended for us. Not all of us love our careers, but God designed us to be a working people and to worship God with our work.

Rather than a sermon this week, we invited four of our church family members to participate in a panel in which they shared a bit about how they follow God in their work and effectively integrate their faith as they go about their distinct rhythms of work.

The third office of Christ is king. On Sunday, Jake taught us what it means for Christ to be a king, and what it means for us to dethrone ourselves everyday. In a world that often says, "We're the king" or "We're the queen," we must seek to enthrone Jesus and humble ourselves before him.

Jake starts off the new series "The Offices" talking about three key figures that were often anointed with oil: prophets, priests and kings. Messiah, or Christ, literally means "the anointed one." In other words, Christ isn't Jesus' last name! It is actually a title given to Jesus because he is the true anointed one, who fulfills all three roles: prophet, priest, and king. This is called the Threefold Office of Christ.
