This episode is all about the Enneagram, a fail-proof way of understanding each other and building better relationships - in personal and business life. We talk with the amazing Tracy Baker-Lawrence, an Enneagram and Relationship expert. Tracy has lived and breathed this for almost 20 years!

Tracy shares some fantastic insights on how understanding your Enneagram type can reduce stress and make difficult conversations much easier. Spoiler alert: it's not just about figuring out if you're a Type 1 or Type 7, although that part is fun! She reveals ours on the show!

Resilient Entrepreneurs is the podcast where we talk about the ups and downs of being in business and discovering what other business owners do to get through, around, up and over any hurdles they come across.
The more episodes we record, the more we realise that everyone has had some adversity in life, trauma, grief or crazy stuff in business that’s challenging. The key is - how to overcome it. How to find the gift in the pain and use it to our benefit - to be even better than we already are.

      • 24: Business Coach Reyna Drake: Balancing Business and Emotions

Reyna is a Fantasy Fiction author, leadership coach, and a business development

strategist who teaches dynamic growth. Reyna’s business, Lead & Thrive is based in the Gold Coast, Australia. Her website is https://ikighai.com.au/

        In this episode Reyna shares:

        • What resilience means to her - having indomitable will, that you’re unbreakable, so even when you collapse, you’re able to sustain your focus and you get back up.
        • That resilience is something that we can train ourselves in, by getting through difficult situations.
        • Failure is not an option - when facing a wall the question to ask yourself is, ‘What other strategies can I put in place?’ to find your solution.
        • The mind is a powerful tool, a powerful machine that we can train and take control of.
        • New business owners will face challenges, no matter how strategic you are, no matter how many resources you have, there will be challenges.
        • When we approach our business with logic (not emotions), we are more likely to succeed.
        • Her book recommendation: Extreme Ownership - How U.S. Navy SEAL’s Lead and Win, by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin
        • How she studied politics and law only to realise that the path to lasting change in society is through individual leadership.
        • Her ‘dogged pursuit’ to make sure that everyone she met became a more effective leader with clarity and purpose.
        • About ‘Ikigai’, a Japanese concept meaning purpose, or the ‘reason for being’ - and how to find yours, and
        • Why ‘follow your passion’ is bad advice!
        •

The ikigai diagram Reyna uses is on her website and is here for your reference.

          • It’s important to know your triggers for emotional slumps and to protect yourself from going down a slippery slope. Do something that feels good when you feel the negative emotion coming on.
          • To have a long career, create balance in your life and work to have healthy, happy relationships.
          • Happiness is a choice. We can decide to have a great day and make choices and have gratitude all through the day to be happy. It feels good to be in a positive cycle.
          • Resilience is relentlessness, ambition, drive and don’t give up!

          • 21: Accounting - Creating order out of chaos with Giles Belfrage

As an early-stage entrepreneur you’ve probably tried to do your accounting yourself, at least once. Not surprisingly, it’s one of the first things that you’ll outsource to a third-party provider because you quickly realise your business will be better off with the guidance of a professional.

A member from our entrepreneur community, The Level-Up League, is an accountant and tutor and in this episode we chat with him about what he calls “making order out of chaos”. Can you relate?

Giles Belfrage of Accountancy Tamer has a wonderfully quirky sense of humour and has been helping entrepreneurs and students in Bermuda for years. He was also a lecturer at Bermuda College.

In this short and punchy episode we hope you’ll find useful perspectives as we head into 2023.

            We cover topics such as:

            • Work-life purpose and why we do what we do
            • The importance of prioritising getting your numbers in order
            • Do you know if your business is profitable?
            • The 4 obligations to government
            • Not giving up and being resilient
            • Having personal boundaries in business
            • Knowing your strengths and limitations and knowing when to outsource
            • Enjoy! Remember we’re always growing and always learning.

            • 20: Why it's right to put yourself first, with Virginia Walker

Have you ever wondered what it takes to lead an organisation that is values and purpose driven, while also commercially strong?

Virginia Walker is a mentor, author, and speaker with a passion for enabling workplaces where people learn, grow, and thrive. This passion was ignited at the age of 16 when her first job as a trainee accountant transformed her life. She now has 30 years of senior leadership experience.

In this episode we cover deeply relevant issues for entrepreneurs such as:

              • Putting yourself first is non-negotiable
              • Don’t define your next step by what you don't want, take the next step based on what you do want - it’s scary and it’s for the best.
              • We are all leaders, whatever role we play.
              • What meaning do we put to our experiences and feelings, good and bad, and is it true?
              • Practical matters, like doing your sums and budgeting for your first few years (Virginia is from an accounting background!)
