Respect for authority is critical to the survival of any individual and to the perpetuation of a nation such as the USA. God set up a system of authority and it begins in the home. If a child rejects the authority of his parents, he will grow up to be a misfit in society. ‘Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right” (Eph 6:1). The acceptance of authority depends on your volition. the Bible is clear about the spiritual realm of authority resides with God, His Word, and your pastor-teacher. “Keep obeying those pastors who themselves are ruling over you and submit to their authority; for the same pastors keep watching for the benefit of your souls as those who have to render an account” (Heb 13:17). The authority of the pastor is in his message, not in his position. Today we have generations of Americans who don’t respect authority. We are in trouble as a nation.
