Listen Later

The term 'politics of respectability' was coined by Professor Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham in her 1993 book Righteous Discontent: The Women's Monument in the Black Baptist Church. On today’s episode, we dive into the complex world of respectability politics and tone policing in sex work activism. We'll explore how societal expectations of "respectability" can be used to silence and marginalize sex workers, particularly those who express anger or frustration about the injustices we face.
