Rest in my arms

Listen Later

Rest in my arms

No sun today, looking rather gray and in fact it’s mainly

rain

Despite my usual cloudy day aches, mama I don’t feel pain

Cause today’s the day she’s driving through the marsh, past

the farms

Spread the news today the love of my life is coming to rest

in my arms

I got a case of jars,  full to the top of the sunsets she missed that

I save

And too many empty Tylenol bottles that’d ease my head when

I’d rave

Lamenting about the lost time that I should’ve been buried

in your charms

It’s behind us at last thank God! The love of my life is

coming to rest in my arms

She’s been through days where she couldn’t distinguish the start

from the end

Patching wounds in and out, two more appear before she can begin

to mend

She thought she would never break free, that everything she

touched she harms

But her man is still standing tall, calling the love of his

life to come rest in his arms

As tomorrow’s become yesterdays, and next years are in the

books

The pages will be filled with happiness and joy for anyone

who looks

No more long sad faces, no more panic rooms, no more alarms

Now she can take solace that every day she can come to rest

in my arms
