We are called to walk in Jesus, see and hear what Jesus has for us, and enter into the reality He has for us.

We have rites of passage in our culture that signify a change - getting your drivers license, graduating- when we pass over that threshold we don't go back to the way life was before. Claiming Jesus as Lord is a threshold that we should pass over but some of us stand with one foot in each world. In Colossians Paul calls us to live our lives only through Jesus.

Anything that stood between us and God, Jesus nailed to the cross. The world will try and convince us that truth can be found in ourselves, but truth is only found in Christ.

The hope of God's glory being revealed to the world is Christ in us.  To show His glory, God wants to mature us individually and as the church.  In this continuation of the Colossians series, Scott talks about what this journey of maturity looks like and how the Holy Spirit will transform us in the process.

When push comes to shove there are a lot of things (some good and some bad) that get in the way of Jesus. This sermon unpacks the richness of Col. 1:15-20 in it’s structure, theology and background. Paul uses 5 titles for Jesus that serve as a starting point for going deeper in this passage. Our hope is that you will find the beauty, depth and the supremacy of Jesus in this passage.

Our lives are either becoming more, or we're settling for less. When Jesus is the center of our lives, the trajectory is always towards Him; towards becoming more. Where's your heart? Do you want more? Or are you comfortable with less?

In his intro to the new "Centered" series on Colossians, Mike Massey introduced the concept of exegetical study of scripture where we go to scripture to learn and inform our lives, not have our lives inform our study of scripture. In a time where churches were tempted to add things to the Gospel, the Colossians were encouraged to keep Jesus in the center.

In Philemon Paul prays that the reader's fellowship would be effective. This fellowship isn't sitting around at a potluck or just hanging out. Its koinonia Fellowship where you are on mission together and have each other's backs, where we belong to one another. Do we have people like that in our lives?
