The article was based on a recommendation by a Supreme Court Judge who also was quick to note this is about parole ineligibility, not about avoiding consequences. Professor Jennifer Llewellyn is the Chair in Restorative Justice with the Schulich School of Law. She explains the process of restorative justice and what the goals are. And she also comments on the significance that this is the first time this initiative has been applied to an offender convicted of murder in Nova Scotia.
