Claire de Mézerville López welcomes Raymond E. Kramer, J.D., to the Restorative Works! Podcast. Claire is joined by co-host, IIRP Vice President for Partnerships Keith Hickman. Judge Kramer joins us and provides a compelling narrative of how restorative justice, mediation, and peacekeeping circles have shifted the paradigm in administrative law, emphasizing the importance of human connection and relational repair. He discusses the challenges and successes of implementing these approaches in a rights-based, often bureaucratic, government setting, and shares stories that illustrate the profound impact of restorative practices on individuals and organizations. Judge Kramer is an Administrative Law judge and the Executive Director of the Center for Creative Conflict Resolution and the Director of the Administrative Judicial Institute at the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH).  The Center serves as the New York City government’s central resource for conflict resolution and restorative justice practices. Judge Kramer is an experienced mediator and is an adjunct professor of law at New York University Law School, where he co-teaches the Mediation and Advanced Mediation: Dispute Systems Design Clinics. He is also an adjunct professor at New York University’s School of Professional Studies and New York University’s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, where he teaches Dispute Resolution, Conflict Management, and Negotiation.  Judge Kramer is a member of the New York City Bar Association, a Board Member for the National Association of the Administrative Law Judiciary (NAALJ), and a Board Member and past President of the New York State Administrative Law Judges Association (NYSALJA).  Judge Kramer received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School.
