In our world, community is often defined by sameness, but God has called us to be a different community.  Today we dig into 1 Peter 2:9-12; 3:8-10, and see why unity is so much more than sameness.

Sameness is about auto-pilot; Unity is about the Holy Spirit

WE NEED MORE HERETICS

Our Culture needs heretics

Manufacturing needs heretics. Henry Ford was a heretic - if we asked the people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.

Science needs heretics. - Isaac Newton - His law of gravity was called heresy. 

Tech is rooted in heretics, Steve Jobs was a tech heretic

Music needs heretics - Chuck Berry was a rock n roll heretic.

Church needs heretics.Jesus was called a heretic.

Martin Luther was called a heretic

John Wesley Heretic

Billy Graham was called a heretic.

Rick Warren was called a heretic.

Heretics change the world.

The best way to be a heretic in the culture and in the church, is to take God at His word. Why don’t we breathe?

Because of a distorted view of God: God claims to be Good (Character) and Great (Capabilities). We don't stop to breathe, because we don't think God is as good or as great as He says. It’s a limit of His character (goodness) or his capabilities (greatness)
