John 16:16-24 — That while the world takes joy in death, we take joy in eternal life now and forever through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ecclesiastes 8:1-9 — We should be humble under earthly power because this world is not our home.

John 16:4b-15 — Since the Spirit promises to keep pressure on the world and to guide us and bring us home, we can have confidence and compassion in our witness for Christ.

John 15:18-16:4a — Since persecution is the norm for the faithful church, let’s stop trying so hard to belong to the world and live for God instead.

Matthew 28:1-15 — The gospel makes the strong weak and the weak strong, even as it continues to spread across the face of the earth.

Matthew 21:1-17 — Jesus was nothing that we wanted, but he is everything we need to the praise of his glorious name.

Ecclesiastes 7:15-29 — Since we can't know everything about the divine plan we have to go with what God has revealed to us. We need to be dependent on God, we need to be gracious toward each other, and we need to trust that God is for us.

John 15:1-17 — In a world that is withering and dying, we are called to remain in Jesus, the only source of life and sustenance, so that we might bear the fruit of love for one another.

John 14:27-31 — In light of Jesus' shalom we are commanded to be courageous and rejoice in his obedience through the cross.

John 14:15-26 — Our love for Jesus is the evidence of his deep presence with us through this evil age.
