Raleigh Dewan introduced SteadySpoon, a mechanical utensil stabilizer with 95% efficacy, and the June app for tracking tremors. Nancy McGovern highlighted Comfort Linen, which reduces friction in bed, improving mobility and sleep. Melanie Lomaglio DPT shared details about the Rebloom Center, offering specialized Parkinson's care and exercise classes. The discussion emphasized the need for diverse products and community support to enhance quality of life for Parkinson's patients.

This episode honoring Parkinson’s Awareness Month focused on Parkinson's products and advocacy, featuring discussions on various technologies and support systems. Emile Maamary introduced the Steadiwear glove, designed to reduce hand tremors in both Parkinson's and essential tremor, with the Steadi-3 version* set for April 2025 delivery. Bruce McIntyre highlighted the Oklahoma Parkinson's Alliance's support groups, educational programs, and caregiver events. Maria De Leon MD emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and advocacy, especially for young onset and female patients. Sydney Colin discussed the NexStride device, which uses visual and auditory cues to aid gait stability, benefiting various neurological conditions. It was acknowledged by all that Carol Chiang’s Occupational Therapist perspective is very valuable in evaluating needs and solutions for Parkinson’s. The session underscored the need for accessible, affordable, and effective solutions for Parkinson's patients.

April is Parkinson's Awareness Month AND Occupational Therapy Month. World Parkinson's Day is April 11th! It was noted that there was a great deal of activity on social media, particularly Instagram running up to World Parkinson’s Day including hashtag SparktheNight with over 300 landmarks lighting up in blue. ImStillAllie is an Instagram account about young onset Parkinson’s.

Cameron Graham, CEO and Co-Founder of Storii, which was developed with healthcare professionals and is available in 10 countries. Storii records life stories by engaging older adults in telling stories about their lives, without writing a word. With Storii, the subscriber (say your grandmother, or even your mom) gets three automated calls a week, asking them key questions that allow them to tell their stories in audio. The recordings can be packaged into “audio books” and remain as a legacy – or it can be more casual. Since Storii can be delivered in many ways (including landline), there is good accessibility. This episode focused on sleep health, with Richard Hanbury from Sana Health and Jean-Francois Destexhe from myWaves discussing their innovative products. Richard highlighted Sana Health's pulsed light and sound therapy for pain and sleep, emphasizing its potential to improve chronic pain and mental health. He mentioned ongoing FDA trials for neuropathic pain and PTSD. Jean-Francois introduced myWaves, a personalized sleep solution using delta waves recorded from the forehead, which showed a 92% preference for personalized soundtracks in clinical trials. Both products aim to enhance sleep quality and address its impact on overall health.
