In episode 92 of the Retro Gaming Dads Podcast we talk about this week's retro and retro-inspired news.

Could the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) be poised to give the green light to Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard? Plus the Japanese counterpart, the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC), has approved the deal as they believe the deal isn't likely to restrict competition.

Next up, a year after its release, Sonic Origins is set to get a BIG update. This new 'Plus' edition will not only add a new character into the mix with Amy Rose, but will also get 12 new 8-Bit Game Gear titles added to the roster. Plus, we finally get a physical release for Xbox, PlayStation and Switch.

Finally we talk about the recent The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom presentation that shows off not only some of the new game mechanics, but the new Special Edition Nintendo Switch OLED model.

Original Xbox fans get some love as prolific retro controller manufacturer Retro Fighters announce their latest peripheral. Finally we have a duo of Nintendo news as we take a look at a potential fix for the Wii U's 160-0101 error, plus we reminisce about the Wii U and 3DS eShop ahead of it's closure.

We dedicate Episode 89 to a whole host of Nintendo news.  From worrying reports that Nintendo Wii U consoles are rotting away while being left in storage, to a surprise Metroid release on the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.

First up, the bad news.  Some fans of Nintendo's follow up to the Wii have discovered that they're unable to boot up their consoles successfully.  While it's unknown the exact reason, it appears to be degrading NAND storage chips - perhaps it's time to get your old console down and out of the loft?  Unfortunately, the bad news doesn't stop there as players of the latest Pokémon titles have been reporting their save games becoming corrupted after updating to the latest version of Scarlet and Violet.

Next up we move on to some more positive news with the announcement of a new Nintendo Switch bundle to celebrate MAR10 Day (or March 10th for those who didn't already know).  Plus LEGO announce their own MAR10 Day livestream.

Finally we take a look at a duo of Matroid announcements.  Firstly the recently release Metroid Prime Remaster has claimed to the number two spot in the UK's game chart, despite being sold out in many stores.  This was then followed up with the surprise release of the Game Boy Advance exclusive Metroid Fusion, the follow up to the SNES classic - Super Metroid.

In episode 88 we take a look at the recent Pokémon Presents event.  In which Nintendo and GameFreak shown some upcoming Pokémon related releases coming in 2023.

Could classic SEGA franchises be making a comeback?  We discuss the possibility after SEGA allegedly send out questionnaires asking customers which series they'd be interested in seeing make a return.

PolyMega, the do-it-all modern console for classic games, announces a new app and accessories that will make it easier to play your physical retro games on your computer.
