En plena explosión del Punk surgió la New Wave, al día de hoy no esta muy claro que es exactamente este sonido ni que periodo de tiempo abarca. Grupos tanto en el Reino Unido como en Estados Unidos comenzaron a sonar a “New Wave” (un post-punk desenfadado y alegre?). Durante los primeros años de los 80s dominaron las listas de gran parte del planeta y poco a poco se fue perdiendo entre cientos de géneros que surgían o grupos que fueron cambiando de estilo o directamente se disolvían. La explosión del Grunge en los Estados Unidos trajo cientos de artistas rabiosos denominados “Alternativos” con sonido de guitarras distorsionadas y letras que gritaban un tipo de apatía y desencanto, poco a poco este género fue expandiéndose por todo el mundo, influenciando a artistas como R.E.M. o Metallica. El éxito de este estilo musical, empezó a decaer después de la muerte de algunos de sus líderes, por ejemplo Kurt Cobain en 1994 y de la sobreexplotación de los medios y discográficas. Este podcast no es un grandes éxitos del grunge sino un breve resumen del sonido de aquellos años, independientemente si eran grupos del genero o no, canciones sucias, rabiosas, tristes y sin esperanzas que marcaron a toda una generación.
