Because many of us are familiar with the Resurrection story, it creates the risk of us becoming too familiar with the greatest moment in history. In this weeks’s sermon, Pastor Sam explains the importance of what happened when Jesus got out of the grave and why it matters to us today.

"In Luke 19:28-40, Jesus enters Jerusalem in a triumphal procession, fulfilling Old Testament prophecies and signaling the arrival of the long-awaited Messiah, the King. His actions, such as riding on a colt (a symbol of humility and peace) and the crowd’s praise ("Hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord"), demonstrate both His kingship and humility. The Jews' cry for a savior echoes the longing for the fulfillment of God's promises, stretching back over 1800 years to the blessing of Judah in Genesis 49, the prophecies of Daniel, and the words of Zechariah. This moment is not only a historical event but a fulfillment of God's plan for redemption. Jesus, sovereign and in full control, enters Jerusalem not to be defeated, but to demonstrate His victory through the cross, knowing the suffering ahead. His kingship, unshakable and humble, invites us to recognize Him as the true King, surrender our identities, and trust His sovereignty. The story challenges us to place Jesus at the highest position in our lives, surrendering our "cloaks" of identity, and humbly embracing His reign. Through this, we gain a fresh perspective on suffering, purpose, and identity, always remembering that Jesus' kingship is both the key to our salvation and the model for our lives"
