Dr. Donna Souder Hodge serves as the Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Director of Organizational Development at CSU Pueblo. Since March 2020, she's been leading the university's COVID-19 Response & Planning team. The university has partnered with an agency to provide weekly PCR and antigen testing options for students, faculty and staff living, working and learning on the campus. Dr. Souder Hodge explains the testing procedures, the plans in place when Pueblo is placed on any color scale on the Colorado COVID-19 dial, gives words of advice and encouragement for current students and updated progress on Vision 2028.
Kate Aviv, Community Relations Specialist for the Pueblo branch of the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, talked about adoption rates during the pandemic, advice for pet owners and programs and services that HSPPR-Pueblo provides.
Kathy Cline, Director of the Pueblo Rescue Mission, talked about the homeless population in Pueblo, how the Pueblo Rescue Mission has been able to operate during the pandemic and plans for new housing projects with Posada and Health Solutions.
Teah Miller, Director of Crisis Services talks about Health Solutions and the new 35-unit apartment complex designed to help lift people up out of homelessness. The housing project is a partnership between Health Solutions, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office and the Housing Authority to help provide housing for homeless individuals. The new complex will be completed in 2021 and the community can "adopt a room." Director of Marketing and Public Relations Dawn Yengich also talked about "Boredom Buster Bags" provided to kids in the Pueblo community and the "Colorado Spirit" program to help the elderly who are lonely. Health Solutions also provides tele-health and other services to residents in Las Animas County, Huerfano County and Pueblo County.
This episode features Chase Vaughn from the class of 2012. He talks about his journey playing football at CSU Pueblo, going to play in the Canadian Football League and that moment when he put the Denver Bronco helmet on. Chase now serves his community as a firefighter with the Aurora Fire Department and is a member of the 2020 Athletics Hall of Fame Class and will be formally inducted during Homecoming 2021.
