A case of mistaken identity had many thinking that John the Baptist was the Messiah. Because of his works, many thought that only the Messiah could produce such results. Despite the works of his ministry, John admitted that he was not worthy to untie the laces of the Messiah's sandals. Could you be mistaken for the Messiah? What would it take for you to be mistaken for the Messiah? That is a life worth consideration.God bless,Rev LeonLuke 3:7-18
In Luke 12:25 it says, who of you by worry can add a single hour to your life? This simple phrase presents a really good question about the merit of worry. There is no merit to be found in worrying. Then why engage in that process? Author and pastor, Max Lucado puts this in very simple terms, "Worry is the price we pay for not being in prayer."When we pray for God's will to be done, we can surrender worry and embrace God's peace.God bless,Rev Leon
We read about and hear about signs of things to come. While that may be true of this world and this life, what do signs mean for people of faith? What do signs mean for we who believe? Aren't signs about things that are happening in the world and in this life? People of faith believe that there is more to all of this than this life. That being the case, what is the need for signs when faith is held in a much larger context?God bless,Rev LeonLuke 21:25-27
We have much to be grateful for, and it is not always about the good things. Too often we overlook those challenging situations and people as contributions. When someone challenges us in a negative way, we sometimes hold on to being right at the expense of learning some powerful lesson. We don't realize that the lesson to be learned may not have anything to do with the person we are arguing with because we are more committed to being right. With a sense of gratefulness, we can see all things as contribution. That attitude is what there is to be thankful for in all of our lives.God bless,Rev Leon1 Timothy 2:1-7
Cancel Culture is not new. Remember "I can't hear you" or "speak to the hand..."? We have been dismissing people for a very long time. The only difference is that we now have it on video tape. What happens when you speak to the heart? What happens when you listen from the heart? Where is your heart in listening and speaking? When you want to create some of the best possible life experiences, make sure your heart is in it.God bless,Rev LeonMatthew 12:34
It takes a bit of work to realize how blessed we are in life. It is too easy to fall victim to our human-ness and the circumstances of life. We often have a bad reaction and refer to life as a human mess. That glass 'half-empty' attitude will keep us on a hamster wheel with no relief. When we realized how blessed we are, that opens the door to even more blessings.God bless,Rev LeonPsalm 127
Where is loyalty present in your life? What does it look like and what does it provide for you and for others? The story of Naomi and Ruth is a powerful illustration of what loyalty could look like. Consider raising the bar on loyalty in your life and for others.God bless,Rev LeonRuth 1:1-18
What is the difference between a little white lie and a BOLD FACE lie? What does it take to come clean on either one? What is the cost of not coming clean? How suppressed and stressed are you by not addressing these issues? Consider the value of contrition. Consider contrition, not for the sake of guilt, but for the freedom that comes afterward. Little do we realize that there is great power and freedom on the other side of contrition.God bless,Rev LeonJob 42:10-17
There is an old affirmation that says 'what you think about, you bring about.' Is that a wish for a winning lottery ticket or perhaps the perfect mate? Jesus often is quoted as saying, "your faith has made you well." Can that be true? Let's explore.God bless,Rev LeonMark 10:46-52, Matthew 9:20-22, Luke 17:11-19
Have you ever had your trust violated? There is so much scheming and trickery going on in the world that we have to be diligent about who and when to trust. We all know the feelings left behind after trust has been violated. There is actually another question here. Are you trustworthy? Can you say that you have never violated the trust of another? Are there trust issues that you are holding that you wish to take with you to your grave? Alternatively, think about a life where there are no trust issues. God bless,Rev LeonProverbs 3:5-12
