After a failed attempt to cure Angel with Faiths blood, Buffy makes the call to save him herself. Both recovered and Faith now in a coma.. the gang discovers the Mayor plan is to ascend into a giant snake demon during their actual graduation ceremony. Buffy puts a plan in motion that unites the entire senior class to stand against him, giving us an explosive epic finale showdown and a fitting sendoff to our Scoobies as they close the chapter on high school hell.

22 episodes now behind us, Brandon and Courtney talk through the final episode of Season 3, reflecting on what Buffy has learned from Faith, the unexpected showdown with a towering snake demon, and the way every character gets a small moment while the senior class stands completely united. We say goodbye to the Mayor, to high school, and much to Courtney’s relief.. goodbye to Angel.

As Sunnydale High prepares for graduation, Faith escalates the situation by striking directly at Buffy’s heart, poisoning Angel in an attempt to distract her. When the gang discovers the only cure is for Angel to “drain the blood of a Slayer,” Buffy makes the ultimate decision to bring him one, leading to an intense and epic final battle, Slayer against Slayer.

Joined by the Buffy doodle dude himself, Chris Birch, who grants some interesting perspectives on the episode. The three of us speak on how convenient Angel is as a distraction for the plot, hear Courtney’s thoughts on viewing this showdown between our Slayers for the first time, all while raving about that final Season 3 confrontation fight between them. We get real about Buffy’s decision to quit the Council, highly suggestive toward Willow and Oz grabbing a hot shower after their “panicking,” and give major praise to Wesley for being a standout Watcher. 

How do you feel about Buffy and Faith finally going head to head. Do you agree with Buffy’s choice to feed Faith to Angel? Was it justified or was there another way she could have gone about it. Right back where we started. We return to Prom for a second time and talk about what it was like watching this episode back in our pre-podcast days versus how it lands now after experiencing everything leading up to it. The shift is real. We sit with the heaviness of Buffy and Angel breaking up for good and the final layer of acceptance that comes with it. We talk about Buffy finally receiving her special moment and how that recognition reaches all the way back to season one’s core themes. We still joke about the hell hounds, but this watch carries a whole different emotional truth. Get your formal attire ready and maybe bring tissues because Prom remains one of the most meaningful chapters in Buffy history.

After a demon attack leaves Buffy with the ability to hear everyone’s thoughts, what starts as an unexpected gift quickly becomes an unbearable curse. As the noise in her head grows louder, secrets spill, tensions rise, and Buffy realizes someone at Sunnydale High is planning to kill them all!

This week we come together to talk about what was at the time a pretty controversial out-of-order episode, and how its themes resonate even more so from a 2025 perspective. Courtney’s loving every Oz moment, worried for poor Buffy, and absolutely not prepared for what happened on that police car. We also explore the episode’s take on isolation, question whether we’d want this aspect of the demon, and come up with our own theories about why the lunch lady is tainting the mulligan stew. Not to mention discussing Jonathan getting his own spotlight moment and praising Buffy for her empathy! 

What did you think of Buffy’s mind-reading power turning from gift to curse? Do you think hearing everyone’s thoughts made her more empathetic, or did it just show how overwhelming awareness can be? We unpack her inability to cope with what she’s done and how frustrating it is to watch her dodge accountability, even as Buffy keeps showing up as a true friend — offering chance after chance for Faith to face her mistakes. We break down Angel’s role as the perfect mirror for Faith — the one person who knows what it means to fall into darkness and still fight for redemption. Courtney isn’t exactly shocked to see Faith drifting toward The Mayor, and we dive into why that move feels both inevitable and tragic. This episode sparks a bigger talk on moral reckoning — the ripple effect of a single choice, and how denial can be just as destructive as the act itself. It’s a true turning point where the Slayers’ paths finally split, setting the stage for everything that follows.

Courtney shares her reactions to Faith’s entitled behavior & total lack of accountability, while we also meet Wesley, the new Watcher, and talk about how his presence mirrors Giles. Also how its great seeing the Slayers finally bond and have fun together… right before it all takes a turn. Plus, Brandon and Tyler share their mutual love for this standout episode that kicks off one of the most unforgettable arcs of the series!
