Robert Pacilio was San Diego County’s Teacher of the Year in 1998 and has presented at California’s Association of Teachers of English, and the California Teachers Association (CTA). He has been recognized as San Diego Magazine's "Top Ten Teachers to Watch," and Disney's “Top 100 Teachers in America.” During his 32 year teaching career, he has traveled the West Coast to speak to about his novels. Mr. Pacilio’s work has won numerous awards and been published in Listen magazine and honored by Creative Communication’s as one of the ‘Top Ten Teacher Poets.’

San Diego Union Tribune’s columnist Karla Peterson reviewed Mr. Pacilio’s latest novel Meet Me at Moonlight Beach praising it as “A love letter to Encinitas.” PBS producer BaBette Davidson proclaimed: “Just finished The Restoration and loved it! Happy to be part of your chorus of supporters!” Mr. Pacilio recently spoke about The Restoration to the Coronado Historical Society and Delta Kappa Gamma Society.

Mr. Pacilio’s debut YA novel Meetings at the Metaphor Café (2009) was nominated for the California Young Reader Medal. His YA novels have been adopted in various school districts as part of their literary curriculum.

Interview with Dr. Reshmi Hebbar.

Reshmi Hebbar teaches literature at Oglethorpe University, where she is an Associate Professor of English. She first fell in love with books and stories as an elementary-school kid while under the influence of Beverly Cleary (Ramona the Pest). She was able to identify with this heroine from the Pacific Northwest despite the fact that she was living in Florida as the daughter of suburban Indian immigrants. 

Her love of different kinds of narratives has continued to inform her work, inspiring her to design courses on television series and writing about them, and prodding her to keep looking for new ways to represent the South Asian American experience.    

Though she has traveled to many places and studied abroad, she has always lived in the South. She has attempted to document what that’s like over the years with a few projects across different media like podcasts and nonfiction essays.

She lives in suburban Atlanta with her husband and two daughters, whom she bribes with chocolate in order to get them to listen to her stories.

Interview with Kim Corts.

Kim is a proud mom of two adolescent kiddos, but she loves them despite their angsty, teenage brains😉.   She grew up (mostly) in Franklin, TN but has been a Midwesterner living in Davenport, Iowa since 2000. Kim received her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1999 and has spent the past 20+ years providing therapy and advocacy services for populations ranging from grieving and traumatized children, family caregivers, and most recently residents of long-term care facilities. 

She is currently transitioning to a new work-from-home career as a Virtual Assistant so/jo Virtual Assistant Services where she hopes to work with life coaches, psychologists, and others in the personal growth and development field.  Her focus remains the same, however - to support others as they work to achieve their unique goals.

Revel Revel goes INTERNATIONAL!  This is my first guest who lives abroad. JoAnne Longanilla talks to me from Spain about her life of wandering and watching the universe taking her places she'd never imagine.  Very few folks went to CSULB from Mt. Carmel but JoAnne, Alice and I did, (along with Kathleen Doyle and Jenny Starke.)

Born and raised in San Diego, CA, JoAnne is the founder and executive director of the nonprofit, Shukuru, that helps young girls in Tanzania invest in their own education. She is also a yoga teacher and practitioner for over 20 years, as well as someone who continually immerses herself in the study of mindfulness. She currently brings her experience to others through teaching and coaching as a Mind & Body Therapist at the internationally renowned holistic spa, the SHA Wellness Clinic in Albir, Spain and was recently awarded the Most Valued Therapist of the Year for 2019. Monica was a world traveller by the time I met her. BTW, not many people know the exact day that they met a person, but I know when I met Monica. I know that I started at Mt. Carmel on November 1st 1984. I met her at the bus stop that day. Interview with Annette Aldridge.

Annette Aldridge could be called "Ms. 285" as she's instrumental in this community along the 285 corridor from Conifer to Bailey Colorado.
After graduating with degrees in Mathematics and Computer Engineering she moved to Colorado where she worked in the aerospace industry in private and government contracting but now works in communications, journalism, marketing, and advertising in many capacities. Annette has her own non-profit: Taproot.guru which she and her partner founded six years ago. Taproot’s mission is a peaceful voice for nurturing the earth, environment and every critter through education and collaboration.

As a two-time cancer and quadruple TBI survivor, Annette serves as a resource for those experiencing similar situations.
