Scripture: Revelation 17:1-18:8, The Beast (from the Sea) first seen in 13:1, representing the corrupt political domain, goes to war against the Great Prostitute/Harlot here in chapter 17. This Harlot figure was previously described as the False Prophet (16:13) and before that described as the Beast from the Earth (13:11). They are all the same. The Harlot represents the False Church and is in stark contrast to the Woman with Child who is an icon of the True Church seen in chapter 12 (12:2). The Harlot (i.e. false church) is hated, tormented and destroyed by the political Beast, represented here by the kings of the earth (17:2). The Unholy Trinity consisting of Satan, Beast from the Sea, and Beast from the Earth/False Prophet/Harlot, begins to come under God's judgment and condemnation as God's purpose and will are carried out against evil.
