In this episode of Revengers: Friends from Work the Podcast, I will be discussing: Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness. There will be spoilers for the movie so if you haven’t seen it yet, don’t listen until after you’ve seen the movie.
Plot:Wanda is trying to get to a universe where she can be with her kids again by stealing America Chavez’s powers. Doctor Strange is trying to protect America from being killed by Wanda, and gets sent to different universes to try and get variants to help him stop Wanda.
Powerful Scenes:America getting betrayed by Protector Strange. Stephen sees Christine being married to someone else. Wanda shows Strange how the Darkhold has corrupted her. Wanda attacking Kamar-Taj. Seeing the past memories of the other Strange on that Earth. Seeing how America first used her powers. Strange meeting the Illuminati and warning them about the threat that Wanda poses. Wanda dream-walks and possesses a variant of herself to find America. The variant of Wanda killing the Illuminati. Strange, Christine, and America find the book to stop Wanda. Strange uses the Darkhold to possess a dead variant of himself. America gets control over her powers and shows Wanda what would happen if she tried to see her kids in another universe. Wanda destroys the Darkhold in every universe and destroys the throne. Strange being corrupted by the Darkhold by the end of the movie and meeting Clea.
Characters:Doctor Strange: In the beginning of the movie, he attends Christine’s wedding, visibly upset that she is with another man. When he talks to Christine, she asks him if he’s happy, and he lies and says he is. He tells her that he still loves her and asks what he did wrong, and Christine told him that it was never going to work out between the two of them. Stephen always had to be the one “holding the knife”. While learning about his other variants, he learns that all Stephen's act and behave the same ways, the same way he does. A variant of Christine tells him that they didn’t get together in their universe, and that he should just let go of her. He tells her that he’s scared, and she tells him that he doesn’t have to be. When it came down to whether or not Stephen was going to take America’s powers, he stopped being afraid, and he handed over control to America. Wanda: She was being corrupted by the Darkhold to make her believe that her kids were real and that she could go to another universe to be with them. She said that the hex was the easy part, not the lying. She wanted America’s powers, and once she had them, Stephen would never see her again. After Stephen was reluctant to hand her over, Wanda fully embraced who she was, and told him that it would be the Scarlet Witch coming after her. She tried to be reasonable with them, but once she saw that they weren’t going to back down, she used her full power to easily take down Kamar-Taj. She kept denying that she didn’t want people to get hurt, but she consistently kept killing people. Once America finally showed her how her kids reacted seeing her, she finally understood that she couldn’t be with them. Plus, the other variant told her that they will be loved. After Wanda understood how much pain she caused being corrupted by the Darkhold, she destroyed it, not wanting anyone to be tempted by it again.
Overall Enjoyment:I really liked this movie. It had a lot of horror elements that I really enjoyed, and I was constantly guessing what was going to happen next. Elizabeth Olsen absolutely killed it in this movie, her acting was phenomenal. I think the major reason that some people aren’t happy with this movie is because the advertising for this movie made it out to be something totally different than what the actual movie was. I also think that we were going to see a lot more tie-ins to past shows and movies like What if…? That we just didn’t get.

In this episode of Revengers: Friends from Work the Podcast, I will be discussing: Moon Knight.
Plot:Steven Grant and Marc Spector are going up against Arther Harrow to stop him from releasing the Egyptian goddess Ammit. It is also a journey to see if Steven and Marc can find a way to live together and be a team.
Powerful Scenes:“Steven” killing Harrow’s henchmen (ep 1). Steven lets Marc take control of the body for the first time. Meeting Layla and learning about her and Marc’s backstory. Mr. Knight’s first appearance. Khonshu get’s imprisoned for turning back the night sky. Marc getting killed by Harrow. Viewing into the past to see Marc’s childhood leading up to meeting Khonshu and seeing how Steven was created. Steven being lost to the Duat. Ammit being released by Harrow. Marc and Steven are reunited to go back to their body. Layla becomes the Scarlet Scarab. Ammit gets imprisoned in Harrow’s body. We meet the third personality, Jake Lockley.
Characters:Steven Grant: He was just going about his normal life working at a gift shop and living with a sleep disorder. It wasn’t until he went to sleep and woke up in the middle of the field to hear Khonshu speaking to him, telling him to “surrender the body” did he realize that this was much more than a sleeping disorder. He sees his reflection in a mirror and starts talking to him, and he thinks that he is making it up in his mind. As he goes on this journey to try and stop Harrow, he starts to understand more of what’s happening. He doesn’t like Marc at first, as he’s thinking that he is taking over his body, when it was the opposite. He learns to appreciate Marc and is grateful that he is there. He learns the painful truth that he is not the original person in the body, and that Marc created him to be a happy side of him when times were bad. Steven learns how to work with Marc, and use both their strengths to beat Harrow. Marc Spector: He had a horrible childhood, but it wasn’t always that way. One decision completely changed his life, and helped make him the person that he is today. Between the death of his brother, and his mother totally disowning him for it, all Marc had was his father, and even he didn’t do that much for him. Marc’s mental health was being destroyed as a child, and he couldn’t take it anymore, so he created Steven. Steven was inspired by a movie that Marc liked, where the main character, Steven Grant, had no fear and was always there. He let Steven take over his body when he needed to, mostly to escape his mother’s wrath. Once he was older, he left home to start a new life, despite his father’s wishes for him to stay. Even though he despised his mother, he was devastated to hear that she died. Talk about Layla and Marc’s backstory of how and why they met. Marc realizes how much he needed Steven after he died, and he appreciated everything that he did for him for all those years. He finally learns how to work with Steven so that they can live their lives together.
Overall Enjoyment:I loved this show so much. It had action, love, sorrow, and humor all in one, and it was a great balance of all of them. I loved the connection that Steven and Marc had with each other, and they were adorable to watch together. Oscar Issac’s acting in this show was phenomenal and he needs to be recognized for it. I liked Ethan Hawke as the villain, I think he did a great job as Arther Harrow. I really enjoyed this different type of show with a whole new set of characters, and I really hope that we get a second season. I am very happy that they finally formally acknowledged Jake Lockley in the post credit scene, and I am very interested to see what part he’s going to play later.

In this episode of Revengers: Friends from Work the Podcast, I will be discussing: Hawkeye. This is the eighth and final episode in a mini series where I will talk about each of the TV shows and movies of 2021.
Plot:Clint Barton and Kate Bishop are trying to take down the Tracksuit Mafia. After Kate puts on the Ronin suit, she opens a whole can of worms and has the Tracksuits going after her thinking she is Ronin. Clint is trying to protect her from them while trying not to expose that he was Ronin. Clint is also trying to accept Natasha’s death and deal with that loss.
Powerful Scenes:Kate Bishop as a kid seeing Hawkeye in the battle of New York. Clint leaving in the middle of the play. Maya’s backstory as to why she’s leader of the Tracksuit Mafia.
Characters:Clint: He was ready to put all the hero things behind him, but he’s constantly reminded of everything that he has done. Whether it’s seeing himself in a play or random strangers recognizing him and thanking him for everything he’s done, he’s never going to be able to get away from it. He finally has what he wants, he can finally go home and spend time with his family. He couldn’t go home with them at first because of the mess that Kate made. He tried to finish it as quickly as possible, but he couldn’t do it alone, and he needed Kate’s help. He tried to push Kate away, trying not to get too attached to her because he didn’t want to see anything bad happen to her. He couldn’t bear to lose another partner just like he lost Nat. Eventually Clint learns to open up to a new partner, and Kate and him stop the Tracksuit Mafia. Clint also learns how to deal with his grief of losing Natasha and helps Yelena with hers at the same time.
Kate: She lost her father at a young age during the battle of New York, and after seeing Clint in action, she wanted to be the one to protect her mother. When she first starts hanging out with Clint, she is fangirling over him, just excited to be in the room with him. Over time, she starts to learn that they are partners and that they need to work together. After Clint shuts her out at the end of episode 4, she doesn’t give up on trying to be his partner. Her persistence works, and Clint takes her back and they work together again.
Overall Enjoyment:I really enjoyed this show, it was something different than what we’ve seen before. I’m glad that Clint finally got the recognition he deserved. I’m excited to see that another one of the young Avengers has now been introduced, and I can’t wait to see where that journey takes Kate.

In this episode of Revengers: Friends from Work the Podcast, I will be discussing: Eternals. I will also go over the first Thor: Love and Thunder trailer that came out. This is the seventh episode in a mini series where I will talk about each of the TV shows and movies of 2021.
Quick update:I now have an Instagram and TikTok account! Go follow @revengersfriendsfromwork on Instagram and TikTok to get sneak peeks into episodes and an insider on how the episodes are made!
Plot:The Eternals are trying to stop the Emergence from happening that would destroy the earth. Some of them feel that they should stop it, while others feel like the earth’s sacrifice is necessary for other worlds to be created.
Powerful Scenes:Sersi, Ikaris, and Sprite find Ajak dead at her home. Sersi is shown what the Eternals are and how they’re created. Thena is diagnosed with Mahd W’yry. Gilgamesh dies protecting Thena. Sersi turns a deviant into a tree. The Eternals take their stance about what side they’re on. The backstory about how Ajak was killed, revealing that Ikaris is the villain. Makkari vs. Ikaris. Sersi stops the Emergence. Ikaris kills himself by flying into the sun.
Characters:Sersi: She was really attached to humans, she always had a great connection with them. She would always go out of the way to help them with things, and that’s something that Ikaris always admired about her. She wanted to be in a relationship with Dale, but she knew she couldn’t because they could’ve been summoned back home at any time by Arishem. After Ajak dies, she is chosen to lead the Eternals, and she’s not quite sure that she could lead them. She didn’t have the full support of everyone, some of them thought that Ikaris should’ve led them since he was deemed the “strongest”. Sersi eventually gained the trust of a few Eternals, and they gave her a pep talk to help build her confidence. She forgave Ikaris for lying to her all these years before he flew into the sun. Ikaris: He was playing both sides from the beginning, sometimes helping, sometimes leading the team away from finding the truth until he eventually revealed himself. He loved Sersi, but then when he left her after the Eternals “broke up”, he didn’t see her for a while and she moved on from him. He was then jealous to see her with another man. Ultimately, Sersi got the best of him and her team beat him in a fight and stopped the Emergence, and he felt like he had no purpose anymore and flew into the sun.
Overall Enjoyment:This movie was okay. Any movie is hard to enjoy when you have completely new characters in them that the audience doesn’t know yet. A lot of people hate on this movie, which I think is a little harsh. There were some good things about this movie, I loved Kingo and Makkari, they brought a lot of humor to it. The movie had some references to our characters, as well as things that we know in our world. I’m interested to see how and when they’re going to come back, as long as what role Starfox and Blade are going to play in it.

In this episode of Revengers: Friends from Work the Podcast, I will be discussing: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This is the sixth episode in a mini series where I will talk about each of the TV shows and movies of 2021.
Plot:The legend of the rings is said that no one knows where exactly they were found, maybe in a tomb or a crater, but the story of him was passed down through generations, and they kept growing. Shang and his sister try to stop their father from opening a gate that unleashes soul sucking monsters into the world.
Shang fights off the 6 men on the bus who are trying to steal his pendant. Learning the story about Shang’s parents and how their relationship changed everything about their lives. Shang’s aunt shows him how to beat his father. Shang’s backstory as to what happened with his mother. Shang takes control of all ten rings. Wong introduces Shang and Katy to Carol and Bruce.
Shang: Started training to be an assassin at the age of 7 after his mother was killed, and he was scared of his father. He was willing to do whatever he said to make him happy. He was sent on his fist mission at the age of 14 to kill the man who was responsible for the murder of his mother, and he did it. He felt so ashamed by it that he ran away from home, changed his name, and started a new life. With Katy, he finally started to live his life and have fun, and he had a job that he enjoyed. Once he confronted his father again, he was still scared of him, and his father called him out. It wasn’t until he fully embraced his past and who he was to fully have the power of the rings and no longer be scared of his father.
Katy: She felt like she was a disappointment to her mother because she didn’t have a “good” job. She just wanted to have fun and live life, she didn’t stress about the little things, and she and Shang had fun times together. While training for the final battle, she was told by one of the villagers, “If you aim for nothing, you hit nothing.” That made Katy realize that if she has goals that she wants to achieve, she can achieve them, and that made her able to hit the mega soul sucker in the battle.
Wenwu: He was a powerful leader of the ten rings for a thousand years. It wasn’t until he met Ying Li that he finally stopped being a merciless ruler. She made him happy and he opened up to her, and he finally put the rings aside so that they could be together. But after she died because people came there to kill him, he went back to his old ways and started training Shang to be by his side and tracking down his wife’s killer.
Overall Enjoyment:I really liked this movie, it had a good balance of humor and action. I’m excited to see what part Shang-Chi and Katy have to play in the future now that they have been introduced to some avengers. It had a good plot and it was paced well, and I really loved the CGI, it was very good.

In this episode of Revengers: Friends from Work the Podcast, I will be discussing: “What if…?”. This is the fifth episode in a mini series where I will talk about each of the TV shows and movies of 2021.
Plot:The series explores alternate timelines in the multiverse that show what would happen if major moments in the MCU occurred differently, and how it would affect our heroes, their worlds, and even their universes. In the two part finale episodes, we see what would happen if the Watcher broke his oath, and interfered with the multiverse and brought heroes together from different universes to take down Ultron.
Powerful Scenes:Sinister Strange being trapped in his own universe with nothing left. Thor and Loki being happy to see each other. Ultron finding the Watcher and going all throughout the multiverse. Ultron and Killmonger getting trapped into their own universe to forever be at war.
Characters:The Watcher: He swore an oath to not interfere with any events, even when he was really tempted to help save the universe, he didn’t. It wasn’t until Ultron found him that he had to interfere. He hated asking Stephen for help, but he felt that he had no choice. Sinister Strange: he was willing to do anything to save Christine, he tried countless times to try and save her, but he kept failing over and over again. Eventually, the Ancient One told him that her death was an absolute point in time, that nothing he could do would change it. After she split the timeline to have 2 Strange’s be on the same timeline, they fought, and Sinister Strange was imprisoned in what was left of his universe.
Overall Enjoyment:This was my least favorite show in 2021, it wasn’t bad, but at the time it came out, it didn’t feel like it had a point to it. Now it’s canon in the MCU, and I’m very excited to see Sinister Strange make a comeback, and see how the events of this show and No Way Home have to do to affect the Multiverse of Madness.

In this episode of Revengers: Friends from Work the Podcast, I will be discussing: Black Widow. This is the fourth episode in a mini series where I will talk about each of the TV shows and movies of 2021.
Plot:Natasha reconnects with her family to help her take down the Red Room, the organization that kidnapped her and trained her to be an assassin. These events take place right after Civil War, so Natasha is on the run for essentially attacking T’Challa according to Secretary Ross. We now know what the effects of that are, Natasha is living in a trailer in the middle of nowhere, completely off the grid in Norway. Eventually she reconnects with her sister Yelena, after she sent her a message to come and find her. Yelena tells her that the Red Room is still active today, and Natasha doesn’t believe her at first. But after they were attacked by widows from the Red Room, Natasha realizes that she was right. After they broke Alexei out of prison, they go to find Melina, who is still working for the Red Room present day. Together the family takes down the Red Room, leaving Natasha to be taken in by the authorities now that her mission is complete. They never explained how Natasha got away from Ross, it shows them surrounding her, but then there is a time skip two weeks into the future where she is free.
Powerful Scenes:Natasha flying the plane to get away from the police. The opening credit scene. Their family reunion dinner, when they were talking about not really being a family. Dreykov revealing his daughter as the Taskmaster. Natasha making Dreykov mad enough to try and sever the nerve so he could stop controlling her. Natasha apologizing to Yelena for not coming back for her, and saying that the time they spent together as a family felt real to her too. The post credit scene.
Characters:Natasha was selected at childhood, she was taken by the Red Room, and Dreykov had her mother killed. Natasha was always protective of Yelena, when she flew them down to Cuba, she didn’t want the guards separating them, even stealing one of their guns to protect her. It is told that Nat has been to the Red Room before, she said “I don’t want to go back there.” She didn’t want Yelena to experience what she went through when she was in the Red Room. When Nat goes to Budapest to find Yelena, they were talking about acting like grown ups, and Yelena made a comment saying “Is that what we are?” meaning that they probably haven’t seen each other since childhood. Then they fight each other like enemies, until Nat finally calls a truce between the two of them. Throughout the movie, Natasha and Yelena reconnect with one another, Yelena was hurt that Nat never tried to reach out to her again. Natasha thought that Yelena didn’t want to see her again, and Yelena thought that she was kidding. Once the whole family reconnects again, all emotions are revealed about how everyone felt about being a “family” for three years. Alexei hated doing it, he loved Nat and Yelena, he just felt that it was very demeaning, considering the other missions that he had been sent on. Melina felt that she played her part perfectly, executing exactly what Dreykov wanted, simply as that. Nat said that no time that they spent together was real, that it was all just a cover. Yelena was heartbroken hearing all this. She considered them her family, saying that Melina is her mother. In the end, they all realized that the love that they shared for each other was real, and that they’d always stick together, and never lose each other again.
Overall Enjoyment:I loved this movie, we got to learn a lot about Natasha’s past, and how the Red Room operated. We got introduced to Yelena, who will take Natasha’s spot as the widow in the young Avengers. We got to meet the Red Guardian, the Soviet Union counterpart to Captain America. My only complaint is that this was released way too late. We should have gotten this movie years ago. It’s great that we know all this stuff now, but it’s meaningless because Natasha is dead now. We should have gotten this right after Civil War, since that’s when this takes place, and we see where Nat is right before the events of Infinity War.

In this episode of Revengers: Friends from Work the Podcast, I will be discussing: Loki. This is the third episode in a mini series where I will talk about each of the TV shows and movies of 2021.
Plot:Loki and a variant of him, Sylvie, try to figure out who is behind the organization known as the “TVA” and bring them down. Loki tries to figure out who he really is, and what his destiny is in life, and it takes him on a journey to learn about self-love. Sylvie is trying to get revenge on the people who ruined her life by kidnapping her as a child. The relationship between Loki and Sylvie: why? At first, I enjoyed the fact that Loki actually was willing to open up to someone and actually love somebody, but then that quickly faded away once reality hit me and I realized that he basically is in love with himself.
Powerful Scenes:Loki watching all the events of his life, seeing his mother die because of him, and seeing how he dies. Loki coming out as genderfluid. Loki and Slyvie about to die, reflecting on what it means to be a “Loki”. Mobius telling Loki that he can be whoever he wants to be, even someone good. Sylvie killing Kang and opening up the Multiverse.
Characters:Loki went through some major character development in this show, but it didn’t really matter that he did because we know he died in “Infinity War”. In the beginning of the show, Loki is being his mischievous self, stealing things, having a god complex, and by the end of the show, he’s thinking things through, and was being kind to people. Even though he didn’t get along well with Mobuis in the beginning, he called him a friend and gave him a hug and wished him well. MENTION 2012 LOKI Sylvie was taken by the TVA as a young child because she wasn’t even supposed to exist, probably because she was a girl. Even though she wasn’t a man, she was still as sly as any other Loki is, and made her escape from the TVA and has been on the run ever since, hiding in apocalypses to evade being found. She was made out to be the villain at first, but soon turns into the hero who helps Loki discover who is behind the TVA. Once they find the man in charge, Sylvie’s rage takes over her, sending Loki back to the TVA so there is nothing stopping her from killing Kang. Mobius was the comedic relief of the show, and he played his part beautifully. Once Loki was told the truth about who the workers at the TVA really were, he tried to tell Mobius that he had a life before coming to the TVA, but he refused to listen. Once things were starting to click in his head, Mobius realized that he actually was a variant. This helped in his decision to turn on the TVA. Renslayer was a good friend to Mobus in the beginning, she stood up for him with the Time Keepers, and they shared everything with each other. Once Mobius found out who he really was, Renslayer had no choice but to turn on her friend and prune Mobius. That was when we discovered that she was one of the villains, but by the end of the show when she realizes that the time keepers aren’t real, she goes off to discover the truth herself.
Overall Enjoyment:I liked this show, I know a lot of people didn’t because of the love interest, but I enjoyed it. We got to find out how someone becomes a variant, and what happens to the Sacred Timeline if something isn’t done to fix it. With the multiverse now open, there are endless possibilities as we see in the final shot for this season when Loki is thrown into a different universe where Kang got what he wanted. I’m excited to see what season 2 has in store for us, so we’ll have to wait and see.

In this episode of Revengers: Friends from Work the Podcast, I will be discussing: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This is the second episode in a mini series where I will talk about each of the TV shows and movies of 2021. At the end of this episode, I will briefly go over the new Multiverse of Madness trailer that aired during the Super Bowl, so stay till the end to hear my thoughts on it.
Plot:Sam and Bucky trying to figure out a world without Steve, and how to properly pass along the mantle. The duo also has to put a stop to Karli and the Flag Smashers who are recreating the Super-Soldier Serum. This show also directly deals with the issue of racism in America.
Powerful Scenes:Sam's speech about Steve and giving up the shield. Introducing John Walker as the new Captain America. Walker killing a member of the flag smashers. Sam and Bucky training together and talking about Steve. Sam becomes Captain America, and gives his speech about racism in America.
Characters:Sam originally thought that he was doing the right thing by giving up the shield for two reasons: He felt like no one else could be Captain America other than Steve, and even if he were to become Captain America, he wasn’t sure if people were ready to accept that a Black man could be Captain America. Throughout the show, Sam starts to realize that he is going to be Captain America, whether people accept him or not, he is going to be the one to break the barrier. Bucky was still having nightmares about the things he did as the Winter Soldier, so his therapist tells him to try to make amends with the people he has wronged as the Winter Soldier. It doesn’t really help, and finally with Sam he get’s some tough love. Sam tells him that if he wants the nightmares to stop, he has to do the work and actually be of service to people, then and only then will he start to feel better.
I liked this show, the villain for the show wasn’t the best, but that wasn’t really the point of the show, none of these shows have the sole purpose of fighting a villain, that’s what the movies are for. These shows are all about setting things up for the future, and they have to have a conflict, hence the villains. The purpose of this show is to see Sam and Bucky evolve into their new personas, Sam finally becoming the new Captain America, and Bucky leaving his days as the Winter Soldier behind and becoming the White Wolf.
