October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Data from the National Domestic Violence Hotline reveals, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men aged 18 or older have experienced domestic violence. “Closer Look” program host Rose Scott talks with Reverend Raushanah N. Butler, a Doctor of Ministry student and the director of alumni engagement for the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. She addressed the role and responsibility religious leaders and faith organizations have when it comes to addressing domestic violence. Plus, more than 1.4 million Georgians are at risk of not receiving their monthly benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program as the government shutdown continues. We hear from Congresswoman Nikema Williams, who says the federal government has a $5 billion contingency fund that could be used to fund the SNAP program.
