I have been reading Tarot cards for 30 years for fun. I took a two and a half day course, and I was so excited to be able to take the mystery out of getting readings done for myself, and to be able to do them myself. Welcome to the "Memorizing Tarot Cards" podcast, your three-minute lessons on learning and memorizing each card using symbolism. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring The Tower card, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed.

The Tower Upright is a powerful card of sudden change, upheaval, and the breaking down of old structures. It's about dramatic shifts that shake us to our core, often clearing the way for new growth. When The Tower appears reversed, this energy becomes more internal or resisted. It may point to a fear of change, or an avoidance of disruption going on in your life. The reversed Tower often suggests that a significant internal shift is occurring while the external chaos may not be obvious. It's a call to pay attention to the changes and embrace the process, even if it feels uncomfortable. 

So, what happens when The Tower reversed appears in a reading? When The Tower reversed appears in a reading, it's a sign to reflect on what changes you might resist. Sometimes, it can indicate a fear of letting go or avoiding a brutal truth. This card suggests that it's time to confront these areas with courage and openness, knowing that the discomfort of change often leads to freedom and renewal. It can also indicate that you're undergoing a subtle but profound transformation. Even if it's not obvious to others, these internal shifts pave the way for a new chapter. The reversed Tower encourages you to trust this process, even if it feels uncertain or challenging.

So, what is the best way to memorize The Tower card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Tower card moment is changing my habits to manage my health and weight.  The difficult truth I had to face was that I wasn't doing what I needed to do to make the changes I wanted to make.  I made a lot of lifestyle upgrades in 2024, and I am focusing on consistency with those habits.  But I was slow to get behind my self-care.  I still have a long way to go. Still, I am super aware of the years I was in a Reversed Tower, telling myself I was making changes when I was only dabbling in taking steps to improve my health.
