  • Ep64 - Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker
The Skywalker Saga concludes! Nerds around the world are mad online! Some fans are whelmed! Very whelmed indeed! Look, we know this whole new Star Wars trilogy has fans and newcomers alike divided and confused on what to think of Disney’s continuation of a 40 year legacy. We also know that treading lightly is… not an option. Besides, humble R&B listener, when have we ever cared to tread lightly? So knowing this, grab your lightsaber and a coldie, and jump to hyperspace as we talk about The Rise of Skywalker.
Every episode deserves a worthy beverage, and this episode is no exception. Vader’s Fist, the 501st battalion is a worthy name for 858 Brewing’s Cocoa Stout. To say we liked this beer is an understatement, as it is as powerful in name, and ABV, as it’s name suggests!

  • Ep63 - Knives Out
Happy New Year! Our apologies for the slacking of your delivery of fresh episodes, but some times a couple of dudes need a reprieve. You know, from drinking beer and watching movies. Anyway: Knives Out. Rian Johnson. A whodunit with pretty much the best cast ever? What better movie to watch about a dysfunctional family fighting, during the holidays while your dysfunctional family fights! Grab a coldie, and let’s figure out whodunit.
The beverage for this episode is a mystery all in itself. A beer shockingly weird at first but mellows into a very sessional (and surprisingly boozy) blueberry blonde. We didn’t know how we felt about this one at first, but cheers to New English Brewing for a truly unique beer experience!

  • Ep 62 - Jojo Rabbit
Where to even start with this one… How about that only Taika Waititi, a Jewish-Maori New Zealander, is the only logical choice to make a hilarious, heart-breaking movie about a 10 year old boy who has Adolf Hitler as an imaginary friend. Oh did we mention that he not only directs but also plays said imaginary Hitler? Strap in, and grab a coldie, folks. It’s finally time to talk about Jojo Rabbit.
The beverage for this episode is a funeral send-off to the classic Fat Tire, a staple of the craft beer culture that is now no longer owned by those that made it. Farewell, old friend.

  • Ep 61 - Doctor Sleep
“What is Danny Torrence up to?” is the question that started it all. Well that and a cat that can predict when people die. Seriously. Look it up! That’s what inspired The Lord Master Stephen King to write the weirdest sequel to one of his most beloved books in his arsenal almost 35 years later. It’s no secret that we here at the R&B crew love us some King lore, but how did a weird and unnecessary sequel do in movie format? Well… at least we can say it was better than that Pet Sematary remake. Grab a coldie and lets shine!
The beverage for this episode is the infamous Stone Brewing tasty lager Tropic of Thunder. Not exactly a winter beer, but deal with it! We enjoyed it!

  • Ep 60 - Joker / Terminator
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls around the world! We’ve got quite the episode for you as we cover 2 movies for the price of one episode! Well… They’re free… so… Anyway!
First up we cover the smash hit Joker, a movie about a director that wishes he directed Taxi Driver -SO BAD- but just so happens to have a wonderful cast and crew to help him not look like a complete dink. We wrap up with Terminator: Dark Fate. Or as we’ve been calling it around these parts "T2.5"; a film staring Linda “Get Off My Lawn” Hamilton. Giggle while you make your way to the fridge for a coldie, because you’re a robot with feelings now. Yes, that sentence doesn’t make sense now, but it will when you listen to the episode.
The beverage for this episode is the Ballast Point Lager. It has 99 calories! Helps us keep our girlish figures!

  • Recap Vol.4
We missed a few movies this summer, y’all. We apologize, but in the wise words of a certain Goldblum character: Life sometimes interrupts your plans to drink beer and chat movies. Apology accepted? Great! In Recap Vol.4 we cover the kaiju extravaganza Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and the wave of death that is John Wick Chapter 3. Grab a coldie, and lets talk about the mess that is Godzilla, and how Mr Wick can turn anything into a weapon. He kills a guy with a book. Seriously. A BOOK. How can you not watch that movie?
The beverage for this episode is an Oktoberfest style lager made by Three Weavers Brewing. The non-IPA streak is picking up steam, so if you have any more fall / Oktoberfest style beers to recommend, hit us up here or on any of the social medias!

  • Ep59 - Ad Astra
It’s not quite 2001, and it’s not quote Apocalypse Now, but somewhere in the middle lies Brad Pitt journeying to Neptune to sort his daddy issues out. That’s right, we saw Ad Astra and all it’s voice-over glory. Grad a coldie, and join us in the dark embrace of space while we chat about space monkeys. Seriously.
The beer for this episode comes from one of our favorites Fall Brewing with their incredibly sessional amber lager Devil’s Right Hand. we recommend all of their beers really, but this one hit the spot!

  • Ep58 - It Chapter Two
We here at Reviews & Brews have a special place for IT in our hearts. Our love goes beyond the book, and despite it’s cheesy terrible-ness the 1990 mini-series, but the 2017 Andy Muschietti directed smash hit was our very first episode. So I guess you could say we had some serious hopes that Chapter Two would make us float. Does it though? Come on down with a coldie, and you’ll float, too!
The beverage for this episode is a mosaic hopped wonder pilsner called “Brother In Lager” from our friends at Abnormal Beer Co. Abnormal makes some seriously great beer, so check them out!

  • Ep57 - Ready Or Not
Ahhhhh aren’t in-laws the best? If it’s not an overzealous mother in law wearing a wedding dress on your wedding day, it’s an entire family trying to kill you thanks to a deal they made with the devil. If there is anything we learned this week it’s if you’ve got new family, don’t agree to a game of hide and seek with them. Ready or not, here we come - with beer!
Speaking of, we went with our good friends Latitude 33 Brewing since we missed them, and enjoyed a coconut coffee porter by the name of Native Trails. Gotta admit, it’s nice not having an IPA 2 episodes in a row!

  • Ep56 - Good Boys
Superbad…. but with 12 year old kids? Yeah that pretty much sums up what we saw in Good Boys. Despite the similarities we laughed pretty hard in this one, and of course had plenty to talk about in this weeks episode. Grab a coldie, and whatever sex toy you use as a weapon, and join us!
The beverage for this episode is OMG NOT AN IPA! Can you believe it?! The beer gods answered our prayers! Our pals at Belching Beaver teamed up with Deftones for their 5th collaboration to create Dia De Los Deftones: a Mexican style lager with a hint of lime. To say we enjoyed this change of pace is quite the understatement.
