  • | S2E8 | Good vs. Evil

Good vs. Evil // S2E8 Since the time we were young superheroes have filled our hearts and imaginations with images of hero versus villain. Since the beginning of time as recoded in the book of Genesis, evil has been lurking among us with ambitions to turn us away from God. In this episode we dive into the our realm and other realms to discuss the fight of the ancients that is still prevalent today as we navigate between faith and culture; good and evil.

  • | S2E7 | The Enemy is at Work...(or in this case public school)

The Enemy is at Work // S2E7 Scripture tells us that we must be alert because Satan is on the prowl. As parents our instinct is to protect our children and in our public schools there is a new club in town and it is brought to you by none other than Satan.

In this episode we discuss a new type of after school club that seems to be in opposition to the Good News after school club. What are these clubs you ask? Check our conversation as we talk about our freedoms and explore topics such as: Is there critical thinking in Christianity? Are these clubs an attempt to normalize Satan in our society? We also share 3 ways we can respond to the idea of Satan being shared to children in this way.

Listen folk, our best response is prayer. Also, we need to build bridges with our community so we can be a more affective witness for Christ.

  • |S2E6 | Christian Identity

Christian Identity // S2E6 On this episode we had a conversation with Jake Doberenz the president of Theophany Media and author of "Who we are, 7 Christian Identities to Shape Your Life". We unpack 3 of 7 identities that Jake wrote about and in his book Jake covers 7 identities that the world pressures you to adopt along with 7 Christian Identities.

This conversation is important as the world will continue to pull us in a direction that is moving away from God, and we need to stand strong in Christ with our identity is in Him!

  • | S2E5 | Hurt by the Church with guest Scott Distler

Join us on this episode as we unpack another reason some may unplug from their faith. I can remember being hurt as a child. It may have been a school bully or could even have been something a family member said. Typically I would withdraw myself form the situation or the person. At the same time, often as a child I would recover rather quickly from my hurt.

As adults we live our lives more seriously and as a result we take those situations or people more seriously - Hurt can last much longer.

In our conversation with Scott we unpacked not only the hurt that may result from our fellow believers, but we also explore the hurt that can accumulate in ministry. Yes, not only can those in the pews get hurt, but the pastor and other leaders can suffer too. Scott is a pastor and author of "The Cave, When Ministry Becomes Misery."

  • | Bonus S2E4 | The Slap Seen Around the World

Join us on this bonus episode as we discuss with our friend Jake Doberenz from Theophany Media the situation between Chris Rock and Will Smith that has resulted in many mixed emotions among their peers and fans.

Check out our conversation as we try to untangle this controversial act that will never be forgotten among those that watch the Academy Awards. Overall I think we were fair to each actor involved, at the same time we definitely allowed our faith to guide this conversation. I think God revealed to me His sense of humor by the verse that He put in front of me, and in my opinion it is the perfect verse that highlights the part that both Chris and Will played in their altercation.

As we always say on the podcast, God's word has the answers and this topic is no exception!

  • |S2E3| Social Media Ethics

Social Media Ethics // S2E3 If you are on Social Media you are an influencer. It is very important as we post our latest happenings on your favorite platform, that we are cautious in how we represent ourselves, because we have to remember, unbelievers often shape their views on our faith based on how good or how bad we represent Christ. Furthermore, as we participate online which is full of other "influencers", there is always a chance that their influence may pull you off onto the wrong path or even damage your faith.

Join us on this episode as we look at 7 verses from scripture that will definitely help us to survive some of the pitfalls we may face and also help you to become a champion for Christ on todays biggest stage...Social Media!

Follow along as we discuss this very important topic:

1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” — You may have a lot of FB friends but are they good for you?

Ephesians 4:29  ‘Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear’ — We can destroy each other or build others up with our words.

Romans 1:18 ‘For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.’ — When seeking truth, social media/web is not the best source…. God’s word is!

James 3:1 ‘Not many should become teachers, my brothers, because you know that we will receive a stricter judgment.’ — Many today are teaching online and there are many getting their teaching from social media sources — we need to be wise in both area’s.

Proverbs 12:16 ‘A fool’s displeasure is known at once, but whoever ignores an insult is sensible.’ — Especially when we speak the name of Christ, sharing the gospel, we may be ridiculed for our faith - we are called to be sensible in the midst of insult.

2 Timothy 3:1-9  “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” — Speaking about the state of our world — How do we balance avoidance of ‘such people’ and still be a good witness sharing the Good News?

Proverbs 18:1 ‘One who isolates himself pursues selfish desires; he rebels against all sound wisdom.’ — Social media began our tendency to isolate, the Pandemic solidified it. We need each other as we were created as social creatures that thrive on love and a sense of belonging.

  • | S2E2 | Navigating Between Faith and Culture

Navigating Between Faith and Culture // S2E2 On this episode we join Scott Reavely, pastor and podcaster of the "City on a Hill" podcast in a discussion that we all need to hear. On Scott's podcast they explore what it means to be a citizen of heaven and a citizen of the United States. As Christians we have this dual citizenship that can pull us in apposing directions. We must learn how to navigate well as we encounter a culture that is often hostile to us serving the object of our faith, Jesus Christ.

What are some of the top distractions in our culture? Is the answer simple as to how we maneuver through a culture that has the tendency to manipulate us into chasing after what the world has to offer? How are we being discipled... the answer may surprise you!

  • | S2E1 | What is Unplugged Faith?

What is Unplugged Faith // S02E01 Faith is described in scripture as “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1) We are generally a people that likes to see it to believe it. As such, our faith can be tested and tried by a multitude of areas in our life, including the ridiculing of our faith by the world we live in. In this episode we cover several ways we as Christians may become “unplugged” from our faith. When we say “unplugged”, we are referring to a situation in ones life, where they have become less confident or less involved in their faith.

Our hope is that throughout season 2 we can offer insight and encouragement for those that may have unplugged, but want to get back what they feel they have lost. Our prayer is that our listeners will draw close to the One who offers hope and salvation, our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Below are the topics that are covered in this episode. If your faith needs to be revitalized, these topics may help guide you as to why you unplugged from your faith in the first place:

Religion — do we have the right idea when we think about Christianity?

Relationship — our relationship with Jesus is most important.

Rules — some may view our faith as a religion with a rule book which may deter them truly knowing Christ

Reserving time — we need to make sure to take time for our faith and not spread ourselves thin

Reading scripture — but misinterpreting the text, can lead to misunderstandings about our faith

Relevance — is our faith relevant in today’s culture

Reminder -- of God's goodness. We worship the creator of all things!

Redefining — our practicing in faith, namely gathering for worship. Non-traditional Christianity.

Reclaiming our youth — a very low percentage of our youth have a biblical world view.

  • Mobile Worship w/guest Dylan Drye

What is mobile worship? Check out this episode as I speak with Dylan Drye who is making mobile worship a reality for North Carolina. We discuss the importance of worship and what Jesus says about the location of our worship. These events that Dylan is putting together, has sort of three-fold purpose: Gospel Sharing, building community, and fighting depression and other mental disorders that many of us are fighting--sadly, sometimes alone.

2020 brought a new surge of mental disorder cases and Dylan is taking on this phenomenon head on by providing an environment that is gospel driven, full of joyful noises, and love for the community! WE NEED THIS IN EVERY CITY AND TOWN!!

"93 people surveyed say that suicide is preventable. But the same people that say this aren't wiling to have a conversation, and be vulnerable, and be open, and encourage one another and reach out to one another. So it is like we are saying it is 'preventable', but we are not taking the steps to make it preventable." --Dylan Drye

We are living in a “me culture” society where many take on a persona with the aid of social media of “It is my life, my thoughts, my journey, and I am more relevant than you!” I began to ask…
