Criticism comes with the territory when you are a change agent within the local church. However, knowing that criticism is part of leadership does not mean it hurts any less.

It still stings when a church member sends a demeaning email, speaks negatively about their pastor, questions their motives, or even works behind the scenes to push them out of the church.

As we celebrate October as Pastor Appreciation Month, may we, the Church, do more than simply express our gratitude. May we stand beside our pastors.

Our pastors do not need a congregation that agrees with every decision. They need a church family that loves them, prays for them, and walks alongside them, even through seasons of change.
