We know that the Lord asks for our whole heart. The Bible says, "Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom." In Psalm 51, God shows that true purification involves our Father in heaven writing His word on our heart as we pray for restitution and direction. The author of Psalm 51 is humbly confessing his sins to God and asking for mercy and forgiveness. He writes and pleads for absolution as he asks, "Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow." This Psalm is a prayer of repentance, written by David after being confronted by Nathan, the prophet for his sin of adultery and murder. Here we get a glimpse into the very soul of David, who loved God but fell into terrible sin. Christmas reminds us that God always keeps His promises. Micah 5:2 declares that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. But, Joseph and Mary lived 80 miles away in Nazareth. God made a promise to Zacharias.
