Though we can’t bring our possessions with us into Heaven, we can certainly leave behind a lasting impact on this Earth. And regardless of who we are or where we come from, we can rejoice that we are remembered as the ones who put God first. God has been so gracious to give us the gift of relationship! It’s a blessing to have trusted friends that you can share everything with and confide in. But with all of our friends, regardless of how close we feel, there’s always a need for set boundaries. The book of Ephesians says we are to imitate God as well-beloved children. But imitating God can seem like a massive undertaking! So how do we do it? We turn to the one who first mirrored God, our Lord Jesus. In love and mercy, Jesus came so that we could walk His walk and talk His talk. In today’s message, Pastor Johnathon Peña illustrates how Jesus demonstrated love so that we could more accurately imitate Him, and bring real people to the real Jesus.

We know Jesus. We know our friends. But do our friends know that we know Jesus? As followers of Christ, it can seem daunting to try to share the love of Jesus with those around us, but in reality, the life we live is our ministry. In the debut of Revive’s newest learning series, All My Friends, Pastor Stephan helps us to reflect on our closest relationships; how do we make sure we show the love of God while avoiding the pit-falls of being ‘unequally yoked’?

Throughout this learning series, we’ve learned how important it is to keep digging. When we are persistent in our obedience, God can work mightily in our lives. But once we receive the miracle where do we go from there? Are we finished in our walk with God because we got what we wanted? In the final sermon on Keep Digging, Pastor Stephan teaches us that the victory that we receive is simply a refilling for the battle that lies ahead. When it seems we are defeated, remember… it’s not what it looks like.

When God says “no”, it can seem earth-shattering. How can a God that loves us have the audacity to not immediately answer our prayers?! But luckily, we can praise our living God that the brief periods of suffering we endure are ultimately for our strength! We are being built up as mighty warriors, and we can endure – as long as we ask for God’s grace. In this week’s sermon from Pastor Stephan, we are built up in faith, knowing that we can boast in our insufficiencies and lean back on the grace of God in our times of genuine pain.

In the words of the beloved Katie Rockwell, “Keep showing up.” God has got incredible plans for us, plans to overcome and be more than conquerors. Our steps are certainly guided by the living God, but that means we still have to do the walking. When we see others receive the blessings that we asked God for, it can be frustrating. It’s easy to feel unheard or neglected but sometimes the root issue is that we haven’t put in the work in faith. But when we trust in the Lord, He issues us His respect through righteousness.
