1. Why is the Apostles’ Creed important in the history of the Church? Why is it important to us at Revolution? How might it be important or helpful to you?

2. Have you experienced forgiveness, either from God or from others? What did it feel like?

3. Why is it essential for us to extend forgiveness to others, and how can it bring richness to our lives?

4. How does Jesus' sacrificial work on the cross provide a way for forgiveness and reconciliation with God?

5. Is it hard for you to love your own body? How do you think God feels about your relationship to your self/body? This is a very personal topic, so please don’t feel overburdened to share in a group setting… but it is worth exploring this question at a time or in a way that is comfortable for you.

6. What does it mean that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and how can we honor God with our bodies?

1. In what ways does Jesus demonstrate his active involvement and desire to restore relationships throughout the Gospel of Luke?

2. How does the encounter on the road to Emmaus in Luke chapter 24 demonstrate the importance of recognizing the ongoing presence of Jesus?

3. Have you ever felt unaware of Jesus's presence in your life, only to later realize He was actively involved the whole time? Share your experience.

4. Why is it important to remember that the Church is not limited to a building or congregation, but rather a global community of Kingdom people?

5. What does the phrase 'the story keeps going' mean to you in the context of your own faith journey?

6. How can you seek Jesus's guidance and know His presence in your own pursuit of restored relationships and spiritual growth?

SCRIPTURE: Luke 21-22

1. How would you summarize the “Bible Story” as you have heard it or come to understand it? Who is the “main character”? What is the “journey”?

2. How is this story different from the kinds of stories we tend to tell in our own culture? In our lives? In our churches?

3. Kenny said that, “ if we’re going to talk about fulfillment in a story–in any story!–we have to recognize what we think we’re hoping for.” What are you “hoping for” in your own story? 

4. Read Luke 21:10-19… what do we learn here about how “God’s Story” works? What do you think “fulfillment” means in this story?

5. The central point in the sermon today was that “Biblical fulfillment requires that we let go if we’re going to get it.” What do you think this means? How might it apply to your story so far? What do you need to “let go”?

6. What is the “problem” God has sought to solve in the world? How does the Jesus story begin to answer that problem?

7. Consider the story of the Lord’s Supper in Luke 22. What does “fulfillment” seem to look like in this story?

8. Kenny said that, “Luke’s understanding of fulfillment challenges where we think we are in the story.” What do you think this means? 

9. If you are already God’s beloved… how does that change the direction your story is supposed to go?

SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 2:11-22, John 13:34

1. What is the difference between thinking of the Jesus story as “a good idea” and thinking of it in the Roman sense of “good news”?

2. In Ephesians 2:11-14, Paul talks about how a new humanity has been created in place of the old identities. How does this idea relate to the mission of the church?

3. Why is the church community an absolutely essential part of the church’s witness?

4. What are some of the “Kingdom values” we can proclaim together as a community in the world?

5. How do “heartwork” and “homework” contribute to the mission of the church?

6. What does it mean for the church to be the soul of the world?

What practical actions can we take to embody the life, light, and love that brings blessing and change to our community?

SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 5:14-21

REFLECTION/DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1. What is the healthiest community you have ever been a part of? What made it so healthy? 

2. What does “reconciliation with God” look like for you? What gets in the way of this relationship? 

3. What does “reconciliation with yourself” mean to you? Why is it sometimes hard to see ourselves the way God sees us? What might change if we learned how to do this?

4. What does “reconciliation with others” mean for you? Are there relationships in your life that need repair? How might learning to see others the way God sees you help?

5. What does “reconciliation with the world” look like? How can a community like the local church participate in this?

6. The 3 “values” Kenny says are crucial to being a healthy, growing church include authentic vulnerability, gracious acceptance, and patient challenge. Do you feel like these values are present at Revolution? How can we invest in them together?

7. “Communal growth requires a community mindset.” What do you think this means? How can we develop this at Revolution?

SCRIPTURE: Acts 15:6-16:3

REFLECTION/DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1. Think about Kenny’s “archery target” illustration for finding the right church: have you ever been in a church that was too close to the center for you, where you struggled to be challenged? Have you ever been somewhere that was too far for you to ever feel comfortable?

2. Have you experienced growth from staying in a challenging community or relationship, and in what ways did it change you?

3. Consider Peter: he looks at the lives of the Gentiles they are discussing before he considers the intellectual arguments about their fate. What can we learn from this?

4. Consider James: he looks for verses in Scripture that speak to God’s heart over verses that seem to offer legal clarity. What can we learn from this?

5. Consider Paul and Timothy: they consider the anxieties of the communities they want to reach above what they know they have a right to do (or not do). What can we learn from this?

6. In your own words, what seems to be the key to building a community where people will feel safe enough to stay?
