This week Josh kicked off a new series on money with a conversation with Brendan Greeley.  Brendan is former staff writer for Businessweek and The Economist, and a former host of Bloomberg Surveillance. He is currently a personal finance columnist for Men's Health magazine and a soccer coach for 8-year-olds.

Josh and Brendan discuss how the ways we think about money and debt oftentimes keep us from making good and helpful decisions for ourselves and for others. Then, they dig into what Jesus has to say about money by looking at Luke 12:13-21 and Luke 12:33-34. 

The challenge for this week was to be generous.  In order to make sure that money doesn't have a hold on us, we have to be willing to give it away. Based on Jesus' words, Josh challenged the Revolution community to practice the words of Jesus by giving generously to God by giving to people.  A few examples of ways to do this: 

• Through Revolution's Nov. 5th food packing event - www.revolutionannapolis.com/feed
• Box of Rain - a mentoring organization in Annapolis
• Continued relief for the Hurricane victims
• Other organizations and people that you are aware of who are doing good work for people

This week, Josh takes a look at how we actually read the Bible.  

If we want to read well, we need to keep 3 things in mind:

1. Context - There is a gap between the culture in which the Bible was written and our culture today.  To read well, we need help understanding the culture the Bible was written in and written to. 
2. Community - We need conversation, accountability, and encouragement when we read Scripture to keep us from arriving at wrong conclusions, and to ensure that we do more than just know what it says and can actually live it.
3. Contemplation - If we are going to practice what Hebrews 4:12 tells us about Scripture, we have to spend time allowing it to penetrate us and work on us from the inside out.
