Welcome to worship for Sunday 14th August 2022. Today we explore the Parable of the Great Feast which leads me down the path of diagnosing the problem with Church…well part of it anyway. As the Church of Scotland and other denominations go through rationalisation, closing and uniting congregations I ponder procrastination, busyness and distraction, and perhaps how we have often excluded the other becoming a ‘type’ instead of open to all. So our reflection is split into two – who to invite and the cause of decline in the Church. Our mission is to all but sometimes we have become blinkered, too busy or distracted to realise we have drifted away. Lisa brings us the parable from Luke 14:15-24.

Welcome to Worship for August 7th 2022 where we continue our Parables season. Today we look at the story of the ten young bridesmaids and ponder whether we are planners or go with the flow! We also consider the second coming of Jesus, what heaven might be like and touch on the hard topic of death and grieving. As always there is more that can be said than is but hopefully it might help us think about what keeps us hope-filled in a world full of change and decay and death. Time is our focus – time to pause, ponder and reflect, time to listen, learn and feed, time to flourish and grow.
