  • Rex Sikes' chats with director/blogger Jeffrey Goodman PT 3

Jeffrey Goodman director PT 3 - "After directing six short films and living in Los Angeles for seven years, Jeffrey Goodman returned to his hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana for his first feature-length project. THE LAST LULLABY, co-written by the creator of THE ROAD TO PERDITION and starring Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan, Heat) and Sasha Alexander (NCIS) was filmed entirely in and around Shreveport and financed by 48 local investors. LULLABY has played in nineteen film festivals around the world. It won numerous awards and went on for a limited theatrical run of ten weeks. Cinemavault is currently repping the film for foreign sales and a domestic sales rep is currently pitching the film to US distributors. Goodman maintains a close relationship with MovieMaker Magazine. He kept a blog entitled "Adventures in Self-Releasing" for most of 2009 as he chronicled his experiences self-distributing THE LAST LULLABY. And now he has a new blog for MovieMaker where he discusses the films that have inspired him. As a filmmaker, Jeffrey is first and foremost a cinephile. He never went to film school but rather took the Tarantino approach, watching as many movies as he could and deciding along the way the type of films he wanted to make. “With Lullaby,” Goodman said, “I wanted to do certain things that weren’t necessarily in fashion. I wanted to make a slow, quiet genre piece that was sincere (rather than ironic) and very human. And, in many ways, I wanted to make it in the naturalistic style that I associated with some of my favorite American films from the seventies.” As the reputation of LULLABY continues to grow in stature, Goodman is now at work on PERIL, his second feature-length film. • Rex Sikes' Movie Beat chats with director Jon Keeyes Pt 5

Jon Keeyes Pt 5 Jon and I discuss the state of the industry & distribution. How does one get their feature to an audience? Hear what Jon has to say! With six feature films, Jon Keeyes is one of the hardest working directors in the southwest. Jon made his writing/directorial debut in 2001 with “American Nightmare.” This critically-acclaimed horror film followed serial killer Jane Toppan on Halloween night as she brings to life the fears of a group of friends. “American Nightmare” was released to North America by Monarch Home Video/Ingram Entertainment. Internationally, Horizon Motion Pictures has sold “American Nightmare” to nearly all major countries around the world. Following the success of “American Nightmare,” Jon was hired by producer Michael Raso to write and direct “Suburban Nightmare.” A satire on the disintegration of marriage, “Suburban Nightmare” spends the night with The Rosenblads as their relationship crumbles around them with violent and tragic consequences. “Suburban Nightmare” was released in June of 2004 to rave reviews including numerous “top ten” lists. Jon most recently completed “Fall Down Dead” starring Dominique Swain, Udo Kier and David Carradine. A suspense thriller combining elements of “Panic Room” and “Saw,” it was released theatrically in 2008 to the international market. Along with a constant flow of feature film work, Jon was an Academy Award finalist with his short film “Angela’s Body,” has directed episodes of the Danica McKellar show “Inspector Mom” for The Lifetime Channel, produced the web series “Exposed” for Warner Bros. and McG’s company Wonderland, sold his screenplay “The Assassination Game” to Bigfoot Entertainment and is currently producing the indie feature, “Spilt Milk.”
