On the mount of Transfiguration from a cloud came a voice, “This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!” In the midst of glory and suffering we are challenged to, "Listen to Jesus." The word listen means 'to attend.' Ron+ gives us three area that can help us 'attend' to Jesus.

You can see from your news feed that something is profoundly wrong… Every day we see more abuse, more assault, more death, more overdose… There is something deeply wrong with us and we need someone or something to intervene.

The world does not need another programs. The world needs to see a church embodying a different way to live. Formed by the Spirit. Embodying Authenticity. Embodying Community. Justice. Peace. Mystery. If you are not Seeking Christ, If you are not Listening to the Holy Spirit, how will you love your neighbor? How will we reach this neighborhood, How will ever be able to love this city? On this second Sunday of Advent, it is good to remember new beginnings, to remember a God who breaks in with ‘good news’. May we join John in confessing our sins, embodying a different way to live, and looking to the coming of the Mightier One. Come, Lord Jesus.

As we being the season of Advent we are challenged to prepare and wait for the coming of the Messiah. The first advent points to the incarnation, while the second advent points to the return of the Master. This advent season may we wait in hope that God will be visible once again. That he will rend the heavens and come down, that he will shape us as the potter shapes the clay. May we watch with eyes ready to see the presence of God already among us.
