Prayer by Rev Elisha Satvinder

Scripture: Psalm 91
Jesus, Our Peace, The Shalom.
Jesus, Our Peace-The Shalom.
Mark 4:39, “... He rebuked the wind and said unto the sea, Peace, be still and the wind ceased and there was a great calm.”
There is no shortage of disturbing news, racial conflicts, and political tensions in our nation. Troubling winds! In all this, we cannot lose sight of Christ, who is with us. We cannot lose sight that He is Jehovah Shalom. We cannot lose sight that He is in control; if not, fear and anxiety will cause us to react, say and do the wrong things.
Even as Jesus rebuked and SPOKE to the wind, let Him now rise up within us, through prayer and intersession, and declare over every circumstance and situation, “PEACE- BE STILL! Winds, be silent!”
Jehovah Shalom speaks these same words today to our restless hearts and minds, tossed here and there by winds of fear, political uncertainties, anxiety, distress, affliction, etc. HE IS ABLE!
We like Gideon of old, we get fearful, become slow to reach out to His powerful covenant promises and yet despite our faltering steps we find that when we draw near to Him in truth- He is there, drawing us closer to Himself, our strong tower.
“The Name of the LORD is a Strong Tower. The righteous runs into it and is safe.” (Prov 18:10). We run to Jehovah Shalom, our Strong Tower.
Gideon, (which means Valiant Warrior), encounters the name Shalom. The first time we see God as Jehovah Shalom, we see it in the circumstance of a man in great fear, his peace disturbed because of the very real circumstances prevailing in Israel at that time. The Lord's promises and provision, and Gideon experiences victory in Jehovah Shalom.
Is it possible to experience His peace in troubling times? Yes, because we are crying and calling out to Jehovah Shalom, we are running into the Strong Tower of that great Name and we are set securely on high, even in the midst of the blowing winds surrounding us.
That's what we are to do when we are distressed, worried, afraid, anxious, or troubled. Set your mind on the things above, where Jehovah Shalom is seated.
Today, Call on that Name, declare that Name and speak His peace into every situation, even to our nation. Address and speak to every blowing wind, to cease in that Name. Amen! Blessings!
