What does it mean for A.I to treat patients?
Will Artificial Intelligence cure illness and give treatment one day?
In this episode of Rhona Ask, Rhona is joined by Dr. Nassir Navab to discuss these questions.
Dr. Nassir Navab is the Director of the Computer Aided Medical Procedures (CAMP) research team at both Technical University of Munich and Johns Hopkins University. He has also secondary faculty appointments at both affiliated Medical Schools. He is the inventor of 47 granted US. patents and more than 50 International ones. His current research interests include medical augmented reality, computer-assisted surgery, medical robotics, computer vision and machine learning.
In this episode, Rhona and Dr. Navab discuss:
- Does AI have the potential to remove bias from race, gender, etc?
AI provides an environment where doctors are able to focus more on the more crucial tasks.AI could reduce the costs of the healthcare system.“I doesn’t mean that clinicians will disappear or be replaced. It means that we will have better health care because they don’t waste time on minor things, and they will have a lot more time to focus on more crucial decision making.” - Dr. Navab
“What matters is, the quality of the life for billions of people who currently do not have access to minimum health care, even to the worst expert decisions, to be able to treat themselves. For me, A.I, because it is digitalised and systematic, it can improve health care at the global level.” - Dr. Navab
