We live in a world that is fighting for our kid's attention.
There's T.V., video games, cell phones, social media, and the list goes on that are filling many of our children's lives.
We also live in a world full of busyness where our kids have one activity after another, leaving little time for anything else, let alone reading.
Reading is powerful. A story opens a new world for our children. It teaches our kids new perspectives.
I love this quote by Sarah Mackenzie, “We read with our children because it gives both them and us an education of the heart and mind. Of intellect and empathy. We read together and learn because stories teach us how to love.”
Reading shouldn't be an afterthought. It's something we need to prioritize to make it happen. But how?
In today's show, I share 9 ways to help your kids love reading. If you want your kids to fall in love with reading and make reading part of your everyday lives, this episode is for you.
Let's raise a generation of readers who will lead our world well!

This year, one of the habits I’m trying to improve upon and track is my reading.
I love reading. It is one of my favorite pastimes. It fills me up more than most activities. I can’t think of a day when I don’t read. It’s who I am.
I know my love of reading is not held by a lot of people. Many people don’t read a book unless they have to for school.
Today I’m going to share some ways that have helped me read on a regular basis and I hope this will give you some ideas on how to make reading part of your everyday life.

Today we’re going to talk about how to keep the habits long term and how to make them rewarding.
If you want to stick with a habit long term, it must be satisfying, otherwise you will quit and stop doing it.
When we were working on getting out of debt, we created many new habits to help us reach our goal.
We started eating at home almost all the time, and we hardly ate out. We cut down on our food waste, so we spent less on groceries. We went shopping less, we tried not to buy anything that wasn’t essential.
We were able to do this because every month we would make an extra principle payment on our debt with everything extra we saved each month.
We were visually tracking our debt payoff and seeing that momentum was exciting and satisfying. And we had accountability through the Debt Dump Challenge to keep us on track.
Today's episode is all about how to put your new habits into practice and how to stick with them.

I'm always trying to find ways to help me become a better mom, wife, teacher, friend, and follower of Jesus.
I've realized that daily habits can push me closer towards the person I want to become, and habit-stacking is one of the easiest ways to get there.
If you want to create new habits that you will stick to, habit-stacking is a great way to make that habit part of your routine.
Habit-stacking is when you take a habit you already have and tie it to the new habits you want to have.
In today's episode of the Rich Living on Less Podcast, I share tons of examples on how to put habit-stacking into practice.
This episode will make new habits a lot easier and doable.

Your attitude towards debt matters.
If you’re fine with it, you’ll stay in it.
If you are infuriated by it, you’ll take every opportunity to get rid of it.
The choice is yours.
We all have different financial standards when it comes to how much debt we're okay with.
In today's episode of the Rich Living on Less podcast, James and I talk about how debt affects us and some practical tips to start tackling debt.

We all have our own set of financial standards, the things that we are ok and not ok with when it comes to money.
It's our bottom line.
The boundaries we create in our finances become our financial standards.
Think about it in terms of dating. We all had or have a certain set of standards that we want in another person. Those standards guide or guided your decisions on who you were ok with dating or not.
Financial standards work similarly. Our standards guide our day-to-day purchasing decisions without even thinking about it.
Many times we don’t even realize that we have financial standards. They are just ingrained inside us.
The key is to notice what financial standards you need to keep and what you need to change, and that's what this episode is all about.
If you want to see real, lasting change in your finances, you have to have a set of financial standards that serve you.
