Esther humbly trusts in God’s providence while Haman pridefully desires the death of an entire race of people. While an extreme case, Haman is an example of the problem of pride in our own lives.

God has orchestrated all the little events of your life to put you where you are right now for the purpose of bringing Him glory. The same thing can be said of Esther as revealed in this chapter. The question for Esther and for us is how do you now respond?

In their discussion of chapter 3, Tiffany and George define and present the consequences of pride, as seen in the character of Haman. They also discuss how Haman’s decree might have affected the faith of God’s people.

George and Tiffany discuss the second chapter of Esther in which we are introduced to the two protagonists of the book. Esther and Mordecai don’t start off as heroes of the faith but should point us to examine our own hearts if we’ve sold out to the culture.
