Robert Bowers, the suspect in the Pittsburgh Synagogue shooting must undergo psychiatric evaluations. That was the opinion of U.S. District Judge Robert Colville. Paula Reed Ward is covering the Bowers trial for the Tribune-Review. She tells Rick Dayton the judge was very specific in his instructions to the prosecution and defense as to what his expectations are for the evaluations, how long they should take and made it clear they are not to interfere with the timeline for the next phase for the trial.

"This is a monumental day for breast health," said Dr. Matt Miller, a guest on the Rick Dayton Show Tuesday afternoon. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force now recommends women should get screened for breast cancer every other year starting at age 40 instead of 50. Dr. Miller is a radiologist and breast imaging specialist with Allegheny Health Network.

Late last week, the US Food & Drug Administration gave preliminary approval for a vaccine for RSV. It is for people over the age of 60.

Dr. Raymond Pontzer, MD is a infectious disease doctor at UPMC. He says 60,00 to 100,000 adults are hospitalized each year and as many as 10,000 older Americans die each year from the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV.) However, Dr. Pontzer told Rick Dayton there is good news on the horizon as it relates to protection for infants from RSV.
